On the Road Again!

So there I was watching the TV. In my house.  We have a Ring doorbell.  My phone tells me that my delivery is going to be delivered from 4.15pm.  It's 4.11pm. No Ring on the doorbell .  But it does notice someone has walked in front of it.  Amazon guy.  Dumps parcel down the side of the house.  Takes photo. Email from Amazon arrives to say it's delivered.  Clicking "No so great" actually seems to do f*ck all. Just takes me to the order page!

Today the kit arrived around 1245 and by 1300 I had cut the damaged section out and patched in the new length. Bought from Amazon Prime! Original holes by metal collar! Getting Claire to sit in the driving seat and..... no. Still a leak. Having a feel around under radiator overflow tank revealed more holes in the pipe between the pump and the part I had cut out! With help from Matt we cut another section and removed more pipe and my patched in section. Rerouting to avoid any sharp edges. It works. How this second part got chewed through is hard to tell. It doesn't seem to be touching anything sharp or serrated like the first bit. Maybe Phil's suggestion of mouse 🐀🐀🐀 munching isn't too far off? Anyway. It's working. 

We picked Molly up from the storage campsite at Daleacres. I got all the locks off and then the silver screen. In the fortnight she had been there as well as every bird in the area taking turns shitting on her, it had rained. I ran the wipers and then the washers. Wipers worked. No water. I drove the short distance home. Had the bonnet up and filled the washer bottle with the premix water and cleaner. Then tried the washers. Plenty of motor action. No water on windscreen/windshield. Bonnet/hood up. Try again. Water squirting out sideways. Bugger. There's a hole in the pipe near the filler. Closer inspection. Two holes. It looks as though the have worn through by rubbing against the metal jubilee clip holding the windscreen trough pipe! I am hoping this is the only problem.  It looks like cutting the pipe and fitting a length of hose in and rerouting to avoid chaffing the metal clip is all that needs doing. Keyhole surgery!!! I bought Joe Bonamassa "Time Clocks"  as a MP3 download from Amazon a few weeks ago. I then couldn't find it in Amazon Music.   Then the penny dropped and I realised I had bought it on my Prime account and not my usual InvictaMoto account. I have two as some years ago I signed up for Prime to share with Claire in my "household" and we tend to buy stuff on that. I had an existing account that my Kindle is logged into and so I didn't think when I bought this album! To listen to music on my phone I have it fitted with a 128gb micro-SD card. With that connected to the laptop I copied over all the music from both my iTunes library and the downloaded music from Amazon. It all adds up and there is about 70gb!  The latest upgrade to the Amazon Music app seems like they have buggered it up.  It used to be easy to switch from one account to the other - a menu item called "switch accounts". Something I have been looking at for a while, and who doesn't need a portable tyre inflator at their beck and call? I put a post on the V-Strom owners FB page to get recommendations for one of these types of tools. The inconvenience of trying to pump a tyre from 6psi to 42psi, and giving up at 34psi after getting knackered, I was spurred on.  The Vonhaus got a resounding thumbs-up and so I took the plunge. I would have been cheaper from eBay but delivery not until later in the week or even next week.  A few pounds more on Amazon Prime and it arrives today sometime. After slogging away with a tube or two of Solvol Autosol and making very little impact on the surface rust. I had a look on some forums and apart from "loyblox" there were few  alternatives. Then I saw Peek mentioned. I bought a tin on Amazon Prime. I know we should shop locally but we are after all still in lockdown until June with only partial let offs! Oddly in this day and age it comes in a tin with a lever off lid.  This seems to be a bad point according to the Amazon reviews.   However, I don't have a problem with that. With tubular metal I tend to use a method involving smearing a small area with the polish, And then with a thinnish, maybe two inch strip of cloth, I saw back and forth, like lighting a fire with a stick.   Except instead of using a bow, I hold both ends of the cloth and work the paste into the chrome. I doubt this is original but it works for me.  My only "talent" when at school and doing metalwork class was making rings.  ...

I decided to go out to the garage and get the Solvol Autosol out and polish off the chrome where there is a little surface rust. Some of the Triumph chrome is pretty poor.  The spotlight brackets and even the chrome lump holding the ignition key are always a little grotty, So, I locate the half used tube on the chrome polish on the shelf. Rock solid! Like dried concrete in a tube! How to get some more. Shops that aren't pharmacies or food sellers are shut! Amazon?  eBay? Check out both. Amazon sellers can fill the order in the first week of May. It's not eligible for Prime!  Slip over to eBay. One seller can get it to me from the 18th April.  It's cheaper than Amazon.  Buy now! What to do before then?

The blogger app gave up the ghost on the original post only about half way through. After the clunk. I left Pepé in the watery sun on the drive. In the house I called the RAC. Only an hour to wait. Okay. I'll still be able to get down to Dungeness and meet Cal and Ian and see the old bikes.  I let them know by sms. It wasn't 10am yet.  Cal offers to come and bring the jump pack he has in a pannier. I say I can wait for the RAC and not mess their day up. Doh! The RAC call back. Update. About Noon they say. Bugger. Day ruined. I go online to look at power packs that I can carry with me in the pannier. A  note on the Rocket III FB asking for tips boils down to the dbpower 600A portable pack. £69.99 from Amazon Prime.  Tomorrow should be okay for delivery. Fingers crossed. I have read all the books in the series by Michael Connolly, in order, from the start to the current end. So when I saw that it had been made for TV I had to watch it. Unfortunately it is on Amazon Prime. Luckily due to a screw up I got stuck with a year's subscription and so I have been trying to watch it on my tablet. Since getting a smart TV I have been able to watch on a big screen. I'm on the first series and now see there's a second! Prime runs out in a week.
