AdBlue?

With the van currently locked away in storage I can't see the actual mileage on the odometer but it's around 11030.  I've not topped up the AdBlue tank since away back at 8899 when we were stung at a Shell garage near Ipswich. I saw that Aldi had ten litre bottles in stock the other day at around £12.  I'll get one tomorrow and fill up the van when we get it on Friday for our weekend in Buckinghamshire. With about 2100 miles since the last fill up i expect it to take all ten litres quite easily. If pumped AdBlue was comparable in price I'd use that.  Let's see how this goes.

Aldi bike gear

Once again Aldi have their bike gear on sale.   I'm not in the market for jackets or over trousers so I didn't bother going in on Thursday when it went on sale.   For those of you that don't know, Aldi is a German supermarket chain. They have become very international and you may find their stores in most European countries.   They started off being cheaper than the UK competition and has gradually moved up and with the economy the way it is, people are looking to cut their shopping bill.   Anyway,  as well as food they do household stuff and other goods from time to time. This week they have motorcycle gear. Next week caravan accessories.   Claire went in in Friday and bought me a Base Layer shirt. In XL it is a tight fit but apparently it's supposed to be that way.   Might give it a try out tomorrow if the weather is kind.     UPDATE: April 9th 2017    I wore this shirt on the Vimy run as it ...

New Gloves too.

Another Aldi bargain. Actually went ion to get some food stuff and maybe a beer and saw that there was very little bike gear left. One jacket, one pair of gloves and a few hi-viz jackets. The gloves turned out to be XL and a good fit.  At £19.99 they seem perfect for the summer.  They are leather with carbon fibre armour added and the grey bit is a mesh on the back of the hands, Definitely summer gloves.

New boots

It's the time of year again when both Lidl and Aldi have their motorcycle gear in store. The gear is generally good value for money and I usually just invest in the "motorcycle socks" as they are thick enough to keep feet warm in winter and allied with "coolmax" keep feet cooler in winter. My brother, Neill, owed me a tenner and the Lidl socks came in cheaper than Aldi and I got four pairs. After our Meldrews monthly meeting we had a run down to Aldi in Hythe and had a look. I didn't expect to buy anything at all. I looked at the boots. At £29.99 they are very cheap, but they look okay, even down to a carbuncle on the outside of the little toes! I tried a pair of size 10 on and they fitted rather well and so I bought them. Time will tell. I now need an excuse to get out and test them! Update: 9/9/17 - Gone to the charity shop worn twice. Okay for local riding but not confident in them at all.
