The day the chavs from Chelsea come to town, or at least to the Emirates. After a less than spectacular start to the season we entertain the former billionaire toy in Chelsea. From spending hundreds of millions on players to win trophies they seem to have been reluctant recently to spend. Shame.  They are still fourth in the table where we are twelfth.  With games against Everton and Bournemouth only drawn the idea of entertaining Chavs today and Manchester United on New Year's Day is daunting. All made worse as getting to the game today as there is no High Speed service to London. The usual 57 minute journey will be 1h 42m on slow train. Then a longer two tube trip to Arsenal. As a treat I booked first class. With Railcard discount  only a few quid more than having to rub shoulders with the hoypolloy. Before anyone comments, I am joking... So here we are.  Lost again. Arsenal at home to Chelsea. What could go wrong? Nothing as it happened. A lot of huff and puff from Arsenal in the first fifteen minutes resulted in a goal. Lacazette turning and lashing the ball home. 2-0 before half-time with Koscielny steering his diving header wide of their keeper. It was fraught sometimes when failing to clear our back line but we hung on. Still fifth. posted from Bloggeroid

Community Shield - August 6th 2017

Another chance to go to Wembley Stadium to watch Arsenal. Once again against Chelsea. Arsenal were in this traditional fixture as Cup Winners and Chelsea as League Champions. Back in May Arsenal had beaten Chelsea in the FA Cup Final also at Wembley Stadium. This stopped them wining the "Double" of League and Cup in one season. Another warm sunny day when we were glad to be in the upper tier and under cover rather than being burned to a crisp in the sun. The view is pretty good from all around the stadium. Before the game there was the usual tedious build up but this was relieved by the Choir for Grenfell coming to sing after the minutes silence for those that died in the terrible tower block fire some weeks ago. The Choir and celebs have made a charity record to raise money for the families that lost everything. I took a short video of it.
