On the Road Again!

It was back in January 2024 that I bought and fitted these to old Molly. After the oem left mirror had been destroyed even with a Milenco mirror guard fitted we decided to fit short arm mirrors. This meant a need to protect them. We opted for the far more expensive MirrorGuard versions.  When we came to sell Molly, I wanted to get them off. After all at over £100 it was money down the drain, as the buyer was getting them free of charge. I couldn't get them off. They were a tight fit, and I wasn't totally convinced the stick tape was any use. It was. So. If you are in the market for some of these. Then MirrorGuard are the ones to go for. Rather than spend less on the Milenco mirror protectors that we had before, and that proved useless when the left one took a bang, we have opted for Mirrorguard . Since fitting the new short arm mirrors we decided to save the cost of new ones, should we have a bang, and we would get the more expensive covers. These look much better quality than the Milenco ones. Inside they are lined with foam, "like a motorcycle helmet".  I certainly wouldn't wear one made and lined with this stuff when on the bike! Fitting looks straightforward and unlike the Milenco there's no little plastic bar screwed on to hold them in place. Instead there's sticky tape... I have to admit that this looks a little worrying to me! These also have a thick edge trim. They do look way more substantial than the Milenco covers. Time will tell. We opted for white as well that matches the body colour better than black. For the same price I could have bought silver/chrome.

Today we had a run to Rye to pickup Suki from storage to bring her home.  It's a bit early for our trip next week but we have a few things to do. We have to clean and purify the fresh water tank. I have a neutral chemical to do that. So today the drive to Rye took about 50 minutes. We discussed the problem we are having with the replacement left side mirror. The original was broken when we hit a piece of wood jutting out of a hedge. That was three days before we went to France last June. The cheap replacement works but there is a problem with the indicator when turning left. The system comes up with an error. The mirror indicator does flash okay though. Hopefully they will have better luck than us in getting a genuine Peugeot version. Amazingly after about a month or six weeks since she was parked up after the warranty work had been done on the leaky kitchen tap, she started first time. I had taken the dbPower unit with me to give the battery a boost if needed. She ran well after I...

One photo. Two things bought for the Van  The Milenco pedal box to stop would-be thieves is superb. It's very heavy duty and fits easily. The rubber floor though is there to stop the original floor from getting worn or even dirty when dirty boots get in. It does that bit really well. It's also supposed to be non slip and that's where it falls down. It still slides under foot though. I am going to have to stick it down with double sided carpet tape.

The Milenco Levelling Block arrived. Singular.  Block! I posted earlier in September about ordering but due to not reading the ad properly I ended up with one. What use would one be? So I had to go back on eBay and "buy again", except the seller had sold out. So the hunt to buy a matching one began. Eventually found another seller and ordered one.  So now I have two the same! A salutary reminder to read ads properly!!!  

It looks as though we have become the Milenco owners club. After recently buying the brake and clutch box to stop any would-be tealeaf being able to drive the Van away, I have now invested in the levelling blocks. These are three step blocks and allow the front to be raised to match the back of the Van.  When resting at the kerb, you can see that there is a slight nose down attitude.  Whilst this seem trivial. It does mean that when in bed at night, everything leans towards the front of the Van. Even water in the sink doesn't all go down the plug hole!   So I have invested in these. They are due to arrive any day now and then we need to practice with them. They come with a level to put on the Van floor. It looks quite small but in the garage I do have a spirit level that's 2 feet long.  That will have to be migrated to the Van as well.  

Added security. With the van spending longer on drive and then in storage, we thought we should up the security a little.  Motorhome thefts have increased recently and so we decided to buy something to go over the brake and clutch pedals. It's another Milenco product. Bright yellow and fits easily.  Although there are step by step instructions it was quite simple to work out.  😁 The pedals on the 2013 model are lower than the later Peugeot in the pictures. The right version of the lock fits perfectly. It's pretty heavyweight steel.  It's another line of defence.

This was something that hindsight would suggest I should have invested in earlier! The shattered mirror just a few days before we went way to France in June might have been averted. Might.  These cover the mirrors and are supposed to protect the shell of the fitted mirrors. They fit easy enough and are gloss finished.  Not cheap but luckily I saw an offer on eBay and saved £25.
