On the Road Again!

Suzi had the new baffles fitted today. Good job I checked her into Cheriton Motorcycles as there were problems. One of the small exhausts had lost the crossbar to pull it out. Another of them had broken inside.  Both needed a tool made up with an ezy-out to pull the broken bits out. Something I wouldn't have managed in a year of Sundays! In the end all sorted and the new ones are all nice and shiny.  Won't last long!  But now I have new ones I can keep a check on them!

I have decided to offload the job to Vince at Cheriton Motorcycles.  Maybe laziness but also that the job needs doing properly. That means the right tools!  I think as well as removing the existing coked and oiled up baffles the pipes themselves will need the crap cleaned out. A dose of caustic soda or something like that. I forgot they were closed on a Saturday when I went on the way home from the station. I have dropped them an email. All booked in for May 3rd. Hopefully that will give the old girl a new lease of life and open up her lungs a bit...

The baffles arrived today. As it was only 2°C today I decided that they could stay in the box until it is warm enough the get out in the garage. Another delivery in the post was a pair of rubber pillows that fit at the front of the petrol tank to stop the fuel tank getting the paint chipped by the flap over fuel cap. These vary in price on eBay. I paid £6.80 for two but there are others can be as much as £15 each! These are from Suzukiexpert in north London.

I have decided whilst I have a few quid from my leaving collection when I retired that I would invest in new baffles for Suzi. Whilst they are available I thought I would invest. Whether I use them or not immediately they are in the garage. These are made by Delkevic and their web page says they are suitable for the standard pipes. With the exhausts looking too rusty to recover it looks as though we are looking at a blow to the budget.
