Ride to the Wall - October 2nd 2021 - OUR TRIP CANCELLED

I'd like to thank all the sheep like cretins that rushed out last week and all over the weekend, and who have emptied the stocks of petrol held in service stations across the UK. Not only have your selfish and moronic acts caused untold damage to the local environment with your queuing (engines running) and blocking roads, blocking emergency vehicles from going about their jobs, stopped ambulances from filling their tanks, but have made our nation look like some neanderthal excuse for a country.  As well as all that, we are unable to guarantee getting enough fuel to travel to the National Memorial Arboretum to pay respects to those that have given all for their country.  Our country, the one that you twats have made a laughing stock across Europe and the wider world. Pat yourselves on the back for your greed and stupidity.

RTTW 2021 - No Fuel?

Less than a week before we set off for the National Memorial Arboretum to pay our respects to service men and women across the generations. The trip is in danger due to the fuel crisis.  It seems that there is a lot of fuel but getting it to pumps is the problem. Sadly, the main stream media aka #ScumMedia have fuelled the fire. No pun intended. And morons have blocked roads and queued to buy petrol. Whether they needed it or not. Unless the situation is resolved we'll have to abort the run. Over two days I'd cover around 400 miles. Two tanks! 😞😞😞

A month away. Have been keeping an eye on the website and of course the Government. With Covid numbers on the rise as we have started to return to some kind of normal, we have to hope that this doesn't trigger cancellations and maybe more lockdowns.

In 2020 due to Covid-19, the RTTW was cancelled and all the entry fees were retained by the organisers and donated to the armed forces causes on Armed Forces Day in June 2021. They do this every year. So in April bookings started for this year's event. This year it will be on October 2nd 2021. Neill and I will try to go again. When bookings opened, because there were still restrictions on gatherings in place, entries were limited to 4000.   I was lucky and actually booked way after midnight, a few hours after it opened. We were lucky and were included in the 4000. Once again I have booked us into the cheap and hopefully cheerful Ramada Hotel at the M1 services near Milton Keynes.  It is £29 for the room. I don't expect much! It does have a restaurant and bar, and on top of that there will be food outlets in the main services buildings! It's with booking.com on the usual free cancellation and no prepayment policy. We are part of the ride-in that leaves the next services up...

The "Devall Boys" are booked in.  We registered last year but it was cancelled due to Covid. This year the registration was capped at 4000 also due to Covid. Our wristbands and screen stickers arrived so we are in that first group. The organisers and those not in the initial 4000 will have to wait and see if the Government relaxes the lockdown later in the month of June. This year I bought a t-shirt. I have loads but the cause is good. See how it goes shall we?

Ride to the Wall 2020

An event I have wanted to attend for many years but it has always fallen on the Saturday when I have other distractions. This year Neill and I decided to give it a go. It's on October 3rd. Again a Saturday.  The plan such as it is to ride up Friday to near the starting points and stay overnight. I have booked the Ramada at Newport Pagnell for Friday night. The usual cancellation free and pay on the day basis. https://www.rttw.org/
