On the Road Again!

RCI were very quick to reimburse the costs of the exchange and to credit my account with the trading points for 2020. So I have been looking to see if I can use the points before the end of 2020 otherwise we lose them. The credit for the exchange fee is there and can be used whenever. I am looking at the October half-term and the possibly being away at Christmas for the first time in years and years. This is proving difficult at the moment as countries are still coming out of the pandemic lockdowns and many are enforcing a 14-day isolation for foreigners arriving in their countries. Maybe we lose the points we have for 2020 and move on and look at next year?

The niggling problem is that I have 14 exchange points left to use with RCI after we were downsized for the second week in Florida earlier this autumn. I hate to see them expire on 31st December 2018. Just vanish unused. So where to go? Europe is artificially priced and only the crappiest or those with the worst reviews seem to be in that points range. Amazingly,  many of the "why is this dump on here" places are much higher. But turning to the US looks the best value for resort, and choice, but obviously the airfare is much higher. Now I know the term dates for the school year starting September 2018 I have something to play with. Update 2/11/2017 In the bit the bullet and joined the 14 left over points with the next year's allowance to create a 36 point year ending Dec 2019.

Looking at 2016. The chance to go to Norway fell through and so we have booked another trip to the US for earlier in the year, The way the timeshare "trading value" works means that after booking the US week, it leaves (hopefully) enough in the bank for another week. So I am looking at Spain later in the year , 2016. We like the Malaga area. It's where we have been before in October. It's warm, sunny and it's easy to chill. Let's see what RCI can offer. At the moment there a very few resorts showing their availability for October 2016. I will keep checking back over the next few weeks and months.
