On the Road Again!

Thanks to the wonders of Amazon Prime the new carbon monoxide alarm arrived yesterday afternoon. New £24.99 Kidde. It comes with a backing plate that affixes to the wall or wherever you want. Ours is inside the boiler cupboard near to the gas boiler. The old one was stuck pretty well and so with the unit removed and disabled (and binned!) the backing was stuck too hard to get off. Not wanting to damage the surface of the cupboard, I left it. I used super strength double sided tape to affix the new back plate. It also acts as the started for the unit when the unit is slid into place. It peeps a few times.  The LCD screen shows the percentage of CO it has detected.  Luckily it's 0%. Let's see how this one performs! 

Peep! A minute later.  Peep! Where's that coming from? Kitchen. But where? It's the carbon monoxide detector.  Warning us the battery is on its way out. The guy that installed it didn't write the date on. But it was two years ago. The bugger says use by 2029!   The number on it is dead too. Shafted by British Gas. So I have ordered a new one from elsewhere. Kidde the same as we have in Molly the Moho. Fingers crossed we get more longevity out of this one!
