Remembrance Sunday - Hythe

With the Ring of Red a blowout, after lunch we set off for Hythe to plant the family cross under the War Memorial. I took a few photos of the area. Devall & O'Leary RIP Reggie and his poppy...

Ring of Red - November 14th 2021

Image
Details have been published and confirmed that the Ring will take place at the four main service areas on the M25 around London. These are South Mimms, Thurrock, Clacket Lane and Cobham. Riders are asked to leave the services at 1330 and keep to around 50mph and keep an even gap between the bike in front hand behind. Wear Something red as well. The event is free but donations are collected at the start end end points if you choose to end at one of the services.  Usually by the time I have arrived at Thurrock and got around clockwise to Clacket lane I have had enough. From there I have about 65 miles to home.  The entire day is about 145 miles. I tend to fill the tank at Cobham Services in Kent and offer to meet any other Meldrews there but we'll see if anyone turns up this year to join me. By extending the turn around to Cobham Services in Surrey it goes up to about 175 miles for the day. More information on  https://www.therideofrespect.co.uk/ring-of-red-m25

Remembrance Sunday 2020

Image
After watching the scaled down Remembrance ceremony in Whitehall on TV, and standing for the two minutes silence on the doorstep, we went into Hythe. With Covid-19 regulations we decided that being with loads of people at the war memorial would be tricky. We got there about 1145. We had the three RBL crosses with us. These would be planted in the ground surrounding the war memorial. RIP all the men and women killed serving their country and all the civilians caught up in soneone else's wars.

Remembrance Sunday

Today was Remembrance Sunday. The real day is November 11th, but in the UK we move it to the nearest Sunday rather than the proper day.  This is the memorial in Hythe taken just after the ceremony.
