On the Road Again!

SOT = Soton, a quite usual abbreviation for Southampton. I guess people are simply quite lazy and abbreviate everything. SOUARS is the Sky Sports version. Anyway. Since the restart as lockdown is eased Arsenal get to play again and once again an away game. At least the grass at the Emirates isn't getting scuffed up. In the rush to get the season done and dusted it will be played on a Thursday. Yes, aren't we lucky? Football on TV every bloody day and evening Let's see how this one pans out without a first choice keeper after the incident at Brighton and other players injured in the first game. So until Thursday it is then!.

You could be mistaken for thinking that after so many misfires of late,  and points being lost from winning positions, that at home to Southampton would be the cure-all for shite displays and lack of any seeming direction from the coach, Unai "Dick" Emery. The Xhaka incident still looks largely in the minds. That the fan-boys have their boy Ozil back in contention for a place and the boo-boys in general will be out in force, means that this looks like another day of infamy. It's also a 3pm Saturday kick off. Only the second we have had this season.  The last was home to Wolves where we led and then capitulated and were lucky to get away with a point. Whilst we moan we really need to give ourselves a slap.  We are currently 6th in the English Premier League.  We look to have little or no chance of catching the Top 4 who are already 8 points ahead.  We are behind Sheffield United on goal difference;  a club that came up from the second ti...

After unloading the car at the B&B in our room..... Actually it's one of two rooms in an extension in the back garden, and it looks pretty new. It has a bijou shower room. Getting on the pot is a little bit of a contortionist manoeuvre between sink and big roll holder but otherwise it's very clean and tidy. ..... We set off for dinner. Choosing a Thai restaurant nearby. Very nice. Some food and a couple of Changs and the stresses of the day evaporated. And then back to watch a little TV and bed. posted from Bloggeroid

If Arsenal don't get to the FA Cup Final this year and stake a claim on a record breaking 13th victory it won't be for the want of trying or the draw. Preston North End from the Championship - level 2 in the pyramid Southampton from the Premier League - level 1 in the pyramid Sutton United from the Natinal League - level 5 in the pyramid All defeated, and all away from home on the opponents grounds. All beaten with various amounts of difficulty and the usual heart stopping moments for us paid up members at Arsenal FC. Next on the horizon are giant killers Lincoln City. Currently the runaway leaders of the National League (5th tier of the English pyramid) and already the giant killers of three Premier League clubs.   At least we are at home.
