AZ16 - Day 13 Continued (PD)

In Oatman we parked up on the right at the top of main street. Walking down the boardwalk we encountered one of the first donkeys.  This one was on the boardwalk itself and eating some flyers from one of the attractions. I guess printed paper tastes good to a donkey? Many of the shops had already closed and in need of a comfort break we headed to the public facilities. Dodging donkey byproducts is a normal occurrence but nothing could prepare anyone for the rest rooms smell. We had a look around the bric-a-brac stall next door and then over to the car park where there were a few donkeys and some foals (?). One with a sticker on its forehead saying "do not feed". AZ16 - Bagging States

Image
Over the years on trips we have had a session where we "bag" places. Usually countries but in the US it will have to be states. It's using a hunting phrase where they would "bag a tiger".... It means also slightly making a detour to include somewhere otherwise missed. In that case only one of the "bags" will be genuine as the other actually requires crossing the state border to access where we are going. In the past Steve Hazlehurst and I bagged Slovenia on the way from Venice to Salzburg.  A short dogleg across the border satisfied the "bagging" criteria. The first will be to "bag" Utah.  To get into Monument Valley will mean a trip across the border then a quick right turn onto the Navajo lands.   Bagging Utah The next will be across the other side of the state when we come down along the Colorado River, a quick detour into California and back to Arizona. Bagging California See what happens!!
