FL15 - Days 1 & 2

Day 1 was yesterday. Busy for both of us as Claire was working and I had the builders in to start on the bathroom refit. We have been waiting for a start date for months. My less happy job was taking Reggie to Countrypaws Kennels for his holiday. He was a little sad when I gave him a cuddle and his new neighbours were barking the house down. The day ended with a short drive to a hotel near the airport so that we didn't have to contend with rush hour traffic on the deadly M25. Car parked and we checked the bags and we're through security in about ten minutes. The flight is allegedly on time at 1155. Scheduled arrival is 1620 local time in Tampa. Weather currently shown as 32C but showery!! Onwards and upwards. - Posted using BlogPress from my iPhone Location: Gatwick North Terminal

FL15 - Car Hire - 3

A few days and I have made another slight amendment.  This year the Mustang only proved to be a PITA as the boot (trunk) was only able to take a single large suitcase and the small hand luggage case, as long as you put it in by some sort of luggage contortionist way. On the way back to the airport and the day before, we had two cases and one had to go onto the back seat!  This wouldn't be a problem if we had a fixed apartment or hotel, as we have some days "on the road" maybe the Mustang isn't going to be the right vehicle. Head has to overrule the heart!   So it was back the travel sites to see that would be an alternative. Or take one case maybe? This year we had booked a Dodge Charger and then didn't need too much persuasion to trade up to the Mustang.  The Chargers we saw there looked pretty good and the Highway Patrol was using them too, although I doubt they had the box standard rental car model. So what to do? The two companies that came out the cheapest ...

Timeshare booked

We liked the Gulf Coast for the sunset and all the quiet resorts we looked at. The Atlantic Coast was okay, but we are drawn back to the Gulf..... I logged into RCI.com and did a search and found a two bedroom at Fisherman's Village had become available. Knowing Claire had said she'd go back. I booked it. It has been 5 days waiting for the official confirmation. They have allocated us unit 20. Not 37 as we had hoped but now we have to see where 20 is. Facing the marina or the bay? The timeshare is Saturday to Saturday. So we arrive on Thursday evening about 6pm and we have two nights to stay somewhere before we go down to Punta Gorda.  And more ideas to mull over for the 5 nights after the Punta Gorda week is over.
