On the Road Again!

The end of year will no doubt with me ending up even lower down the table than ever before. The table is before my last odometer reading was added to the table  The V-Strom is really not gettingthe use it should 

Whilst I wait for the final tables to be published the new year's competition started on August 1st. As far as i am aware, everyone that took part is automatically entered into the new year. Just in case, I checked the forum and signed up anyway... I am also the only contestant from the UK!  I have mentioned it to my brother and biker friends and none have taken up the challenge.  My brother, Neill,  would have finished up in the top 50 quite easily with just one of his trips. Some of the mileages (kilometres) claimed by the Top 10 seem fantastical.  So I am hoping that with the miles I did on the 2nd August to MK will get me a decent start.....  I haven't worked out exactly how many miles though. Google Maps Timeline shows 245 miles. Its notoriously inaccurate but maybe not too far out. My next outing might be on Sunday for Meldrews as I am away on the usual 3rd Sunday breakfast run. After so much time passing without riding, and without logging any miles, my position in the table has dropped. This table is before the June mileages are added to the tables. I think there is only one person lower in the table than me! Thank goodness for Shadowgirl! In the end I logged these odometer readings at the end of June. I can't remember the previous entries so have no idea what mileage I will have accrued since then.

The table has been published for the first month's mileages for the 2023/24. I'm in 61st place.

I have entered my mileages for August as the chances of me going on the bike(s) before we go on holiday to France in the motorhome on Thursday are nil. Vera Suzi Triplo

In the end of the 2022-23 riding season I ended up 89th!  I need to do more riding to get a higher placed finish for the 2023-24 event!

With Vera Strom off the road due to the MoT running out and Suzi Triplo having a flat battery and also too much alloy to keep polished, they haven't been out for a while. So today Suzi went out for a short ride after a few days with the battery on charge. So my final odometer readings are: These will get updated on the Kilometerfresser website later tonight. With rain 🌧️ forecast for the next few days the chances of getting out is remote. The next competition starts next Tuesday.  Go Suzi. Go Vera!

As we get near to the end of June I have finally got around to seeing where I have sunk to in the Kilometerfresser table. Since last year I have become increasingly less and less of a motorcyclist and more of a motorhomer! The motorhome that Claire and I have bought is the single biggest thing we have bought with the exception of a house! Firstly last year with the 115 and now in 2023 with the 2019 Autoquest 175! All we do can be found here . So with reduced riding opportunities I have dropped to 81st in the table!  I have dome a couple of runs in may and into June. The latter will be another few weeks before the table is updated though. Somehow if I am still 81st after the June update I will be very surprised.  There is only a month left to go before the competition end on July 31st.  With next weekend taken up with a moho trip again, I am beginning to run out of time to get active! I have already submitted my mileages and odometer photos for June as I know we aren't goi...

With the weather bad for a long time I barely got out on the bikes in April and so didn't bother sending the mileages for the month.   I have done a few rides out in May so far and tomorrow should be once again riding up to London for the Arsenal game. I did a run up to Canterbury to have the V-Strom serviced but that was only about 45 miles return. Currently 74th in the table. It seems that there are many members from previous years not doing it this year. Full table.

At last a few miles under my belt. I think I have left it a little late to get my miles in though. The table shows that I haven't dropped too far down since January! Only about six places. Maybe when my February/March mileages go onto the system maybe move up one. Or not. Full table.

Another month with mileages being nil  I have dropped down the table quite a way.  

It was inevitable. Hardly any riding since Aragón and Bromley, I have slipped down the table! It's not going to get any better when I have to enter the end of October mileages. Maybe I can get out this week, but I doubt it.

September has seen a lot greater mileage than I normally achieve in a month.  Over 2000 miles on the V-Strom and about 40 on the Kettle.  As I am unlikely to go out this week I have already registered my mileages on the Kilometerfresser website. I checked on the website and they have me only logging just over 2000 kms for September.  The 1972 miles I did from Auchan in Calais to Aragón and back to the same Auchan would have been 3155 kilometres. On top of that I had the ride to and from Auchan from home, the ride to Bromley for the football, and any miles on the Kettle.... I put a note on the forum post to re-iterate MILES. After a mistake last year they asked for miles and not for me to calculate kilometres. The calculation figure doesn't match the odometer photos....  I doubt I will be 14th in the table as we progress through the winter into summer.

August hasn't been the best month for me to tot up some miles as we have been away for quite a few days in the Van. So when I entered I wasn't surprised to see that I have only managed 252 miles on Vera and 0 miles on Suzi!  They will convert that to kilometres for the competition! So that will be approximately 403 kms. I hope to do much much better in September after the trip to Aragón for the MotoGP . I expect to cover around 2200 miles or 3500 kms on that trip.   For a variety of reasons the estimated 150 miles up to London last weekend didn't materialise as I went on the train!  There are a few more games for both Arsenal and Oldham that I will look at riding before the end of September.

I have been automatically been entered into the 2023 competition that began on the 1st August. Hurrah.

As far as I know the odometer photos I sent will also be the start of the 2022/23 competiton. After a cock-up with the June mileages that saw me shoot up the table from 108th to 3rd, I think I am more likely to have returned to around the 100th mark. If that high! What was the cock-up? I have always sent in the V-Strom odometer photo with the clocks on the bike set to kilometres. But the GT750 is old school and so I take a photo and then multiply the reading by 1.6! It seems the spreadsheet at their end does that automatically, so when someone entered the kms it multiplied by another 1.6 times! Suddenly I was flying up the...

I haven't entered any mileage for April 2022 for either of the bikes. I have some mileage but forgot.  I'll wait until the end of May and enter them.  I am currently down to 116th in the table. If I had added the meagre mileages for April it would have left me 110th or maybe 109th! Thanks to the lack of decent weather and other things occupying my time I hardly added anything to February's count.  But still haven't broken into the top 100! I have a feeling that May might tip it a little in my favour... :)  108th!!! 108th on 2022kms
