Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening UK

If you are in the UK and are 65 and over and you haven't heard from your GP about this screening, then give them a call and see what is happening. The screening takes about five minutes with an ultrasound machine to see whether the Aorta is normally sized or enlarged. It is also free on the NHS. I went this morning for mine. Painless and you get the results straight away.  I was "normal" and therefore not at risk. Do it. You may find it could save your life. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/abdominal-aortic-aneurysm-screening/

Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Screening UK

It seems when you get to 65, and as a male, there are quite a few things that can go wrong and you could end up dead or maybe just seriously unwell. Luckily the NHS in the UK has a lot of different screening systems in place.  Today I have a letter from the NHS to inform me that now that I am 65, I am invited to go for the screening to see if there is a problem with the wall of my aorta. At least the poo-stick search for bowel cancer was clear last year. May 27th is the date I have been given, More information: www.nhs.uk/aaa www.gov.uk/phe/aaa-screening-leaflet www.circulationfoundation.org.uk
