On the Road Again!

New seat covers. They were a very tight fit. Cheap at £39.95 but difficult to fit over the driver and front passenger seats. Tight and baggy!! How? They'll have to do. Recommend? No.

Molly went into the storage place today.  For some strange reason I went the wrong way!  We had a tour of Romney Marsh and passed the storage on the "wrong" side! I had to do a U-turn and go back!  DOH!  So 10 miles instead of 6! On the way the "range to empty" showed the most we have had in miles since we got Molly. She'll be there for a few weeks I think until we know more about the trip to Spain and Claire's root canal treatment. Hopefully, the dentistry will go off okay and we will be able to go as planned. The current plan doesn't allow much time to relax on the way to Alcoceber as we have four overnights to get there. Before she went in I drained the fresh water through the waste water tank by running the tap in the bathroom with a little disinfectant to run through the pipes and go into the waste tank. Whilst that was emptying I topped up the wash/wiper bottle. It took 2.5 litres to fill that from the 5 litre container I bought in Spain earlier in...

After the lovely day we had yesterday at Sissinghurst Castle Garden instead of the weekend away in Norfolk, we decided to get up early today and go out again. The plan was to go to Bodiam Castle . It's not that far away and I planned a motorhome friendly route on MyRouteApp and imported it to  https://plan.tomtom.com/ . Somewhere along the way the "motorhome" route part gets lost in translation and it opens a car route.  It then has to be re-edited to get it back into motorhome format. Once it is "synced" automatically from Plans to Max (the Go Camper Max satnav)  it seems that despite both products being TomTom products, Max then decides to go a different way to the one planned.... So for most of the journey today we were being told to turn off where we didn't want to go, and to turn around. Unlike my TomTom Rider 410, Max doesn't seem to bother with u-turns.  It simply routes around a huge loop to get back to where it wants to go. Anyway we...

As we were unable to go to Nelson's Patch (blog elsewhere) we decided to have a run out locally to give Molly the Moho some miles and have the engine running!  I am paranoid that the engine battery will drop too low and we'll have the dreaded air bag ECU failure. Our visit today it to an old favourite at Sissinghurst Castle Garden . We were up early and out before 9.30am. The estate opens at 10am and the house and gardens at 11am. There is parking for motorhomes and camper vans that can accommodate 7 vans. There is also a coach parking area that can take 3 or maybe 4 large coaches. We arrived first and parked backed into the fence with easy access for us, and to get out again. Reggie was on the long lead as we went down to the café and found ourselves a table in the shade of an apple tree.  They look like cooking apples. Coming early means we get a parking place and a table.  It soon fills up.  It's the last Friday of the last weekend of the school summer holidays. Y...

Since last year when the local Caravan Club site closed for the winter, Molly has resided on our driveway. It's not ideal.  She is locked with a pedal blocker and a steering lock bar and often a wheel lock. I have recently bought a bigger more robust one but have yet to assemble it. Our friends Anita and John have a caravan, this is stored at a guarded site in Hawkinge. I applied there and was told it was full and we are on a waiting list. It's been almost a year.... I was reading an article on a motorhome magazine's online page and there was a bit about storage.  The association in the UK is called CaSSOA  and there was a link to the search page. There are two locally. The one we are waiting for, and another about 6 miles away.  I contacted them, DJ Storage, a few emails exchanged and we went down yesterday to have a look around. Two gates to get through, one with an electronic tag. Cameras all over the place. And they live locally. It has a gold status with CaSSOA....

On the road only 15 minutes later than planned at 1015.. The satnav said a little under 3 hours to do the journey. We knew with a stop that this would be a little longer. Going was good except for two sets of roadworks on the A12 and the winding roads once we went off the A140. We did have a stop at Thurrock Services for Reggie's comfort break and to get some lunch for us, sandwiches from Greggs, and a coffee. It rained most of the way up. There was an accident on the A14. From the damage to the car and the ripped up vegetation on the central reservation it looked as through there had been a 💥! The roads between the A140 and the CL  went through villages with lots of standing water and huge floods.  Nothing too serious though. We arrived on site about 2.35pm and setup the ramps and EHU. Time for tea and a mince pie whilst I set up the TV.  Dinner tonight will be a couple of ready meals in the microwave. Tomorrow we go a few miles to visit Claire's sister. ...
