On the Road Again!

It's a little over a year since I bought the Cybershot from eBay to replace the old one that I have had for many years and was a bin find. I have used it many times and it works pretty well. Battery life is good. But thinking ahead to trips away as retired older gentleman I decided to get the battery out of the "old" camera and charge that too. The problem currently is that the on-unit charging needs the battery in the camera. Not a problem at home but this requires a kettle lead and the power pack and four feet of cable into the camera. it all takes up space. Another hassle is removing the battery kills the setup. As soon as you put in the new battery you have to set the date and time again.  But undeterred I have hooked it up with the "old" battery, that actually came with the "new" camera but was flat.  I have also ordered a new off-camera charger for this type of battery.  Genuine Sony NP-FR1 lithium batteries are selling on...

Over three years since I invested in this card and after a year or so of it working when it felt like it with the notebook turned on it I forgot about it. Returning to it recently has discovered that neither Sandisk not Eye-Fi support this generation of their cards and their customer support is totally useless. The software won't work with WIN10 and they have done nothing to assist their customers. They were happy to take the money off us all, and there must be thousands if not 0000's sold. But now we are on our own.   A 4GB SD card is worthless nowadays with ever increasing file sizes and write speeds. Another gimmick for the back of the drawer or the rubbish bin. Original posting

What are the benefits of the SanDisk Eye-Fi SD card over the standard SanDisk SD card? On the face of it, not that much.   I bought this one as a gadget. It was at the very right price but still more costly than the standard 4GB card.   The card doesn't give the full 4gb as it contains a little software that is installed on the PC. Firstly, I installed it on our Acer Aspire One notebook. It's most likely the computer we would take with us on a trip as it only has a 10.1" LED screen and is very compact.   The software loads really easily and there are basically three steps:  1 - Stick the card in its own USB reader in a slot. 2 - Install the Eye-Fi Center and follow the instructions to set it up for your wifi. 3 - Put the card in a camera and take a pic..... It took about 10 minutes to load and about half a minute to recognise the card in the camera and then a small window appears in the bottom right of the screen and it loads the pix.   In the...
