On the Road Again!

It's a little over a year since I bought the Cybershot from eBay to replace the old one that I have had for many years and was a bin find. I have used it many times and it works pretty well. Battery life is good. But thinking ahead to trips away as retired older gentleman I decided to get the battery out of the "old" camera and charge that too. The problem currently is that the on-unit charging needs the battery in the camera. Not a problem at home but this requires a kettle lead and the power pack and four feet of cable into the camera. it all takes up space. Another hassle is removing the battery kills the setup. As soon as you put in the new battery you have to set the date and time again.  But undeterred I have hooked it up with the "old" battery, that actually came with the "new" camera but was flat.  I have also ordered a new off-camera charger for this type of battery.  Genuine Sony NP-FR1 lithium batteries are selling on...

After years and years the old DSC-P200 finally gave up the ghost. The mode selection wheel finally went wrong again, and the "fix" I found on the internet to reset the camera with the battery removed didn't work. This little metal bodied camera is perfect for slipping into the pocket of a jacket on a walk or out on a ride on the cycle or the motorcycle. It's quite tough and the lens pulls back into cover and it also has a viewfinder as well as a screen at the back. It became impossible to take any photos.  Enter eBay.  And £8.75 inc postage later a "new" one was delivered by the postman. It has a slight dent in the front but once I had transferred the battery and my multi card memory to it worked perfectly.  I just had to transfer the wrist strap as well. I picked this little compact camera for a song quite a few years back. In fact it was what we call a "bin find".  If it is in a bin/trashcan and on the street, i.e. in a public place, it is free to whoever wants it.  Front view It came "as seen" with no accessories other than the Sony proprietary Memory Stick. At a meagre 32mb it wasn't going to get many photos before it would fill up. My shooting habits are to keep as much on the card as possible, download to the PC what I want though "Picasa 3" and leave the card as it is. A 32mb simply not enough. I found a charger on eBay but the memory stick proved less successful. I got a 1gb stick, badged as Sony, but it kept having faults on it, so I junked it.
