The new Premier League is on us. The summer off-season is finally over. Last week Arsenal got an away trip to Newcastle and won. A miracle in its way as actually winning the first game of the season usually ends in defeat.  This week was the first home game of the season.  The opponents were Burnley FC. One of the few teams that seem unable to beat the Arsenal. The game allowed Arsenal to introduce some new signings in Dani Ceballos and David Luiz as starters and Nicolas Pepé on the bench. Burnley may have some new signings but who cares. Coach Dyche (Douche as we call him) employed his usual tactics, a mixture of thuggery combined with time wasting and a lot of moaning during and after the game. It was VAR debut at the Emirates as well. In the end it awarded Douche's thugs a goal and chalked one of ours off.  Still, a 180° turn and shot from Lacazette put us one up. Then they got one back before Aubameyang fired us to 2-1. Justice.  ...

Since I am in my first year of having my season ticket to myself after Alex dropped out, it is sometimes a bit of a chore to go to so many games close together. At least we are playing two fewer games after losing to the Totts last night, but quick on the heels of that is another lunch time kick off, this time against. Burnley. On paper, we should have beaten Huddersfield and Southampton to have "kept the pressure on" (© Tottenham Hotspur 2014-2019) the clubs above.  Instead we managed to lose to the latter. Burnley are in that same area near the foot of the table.  They will come to defend and keep ten players between the ball and their goal as often as possible. We need to be clinical. Just as the Totts were last night.  A game with few chances. Although we had one weak shot saved by the keeper that should have put us 1-0 it was poor.  That we hit the post twice and the bar once wasn't really bad luck but simply terrible finishing. ...

Merci Arsene Wenger

Well. That's the end of an era. Arsène Wenger has managed his last Arsenal home game the the Emirates Stadium.  After 22 years he has decided to leave the club.   For some fans the #wengerout hashtag has been their main cause. Why support the club you profess to love and then constantly want to see games lost so that the manager/coach is sacked or leaves? Admittedly the decade since we last won the Premier League hasn't been the success that fans got used to. Many of these "fans" only came to Arsenal because along with Manchester United we won trophies year in year out.   In 22 years Arsène Wenger led us to 7 FA Cups, two doubles (FA Cup & League Championship) as well as the 2003/04 season when we became the only club in the modern era  to go a whole season unbeaten - a total in the end of 49 league games without loss. There are 38 games in the Premier League season! Photo by Neill Devall - my phone locked up at this moment!!...
