On the Road Again!

The problem of losing weight is that much of the gear I have bought over the last few years, two of them under covid lockdowns, are now way too large for me. I have a pair of Hood Jeans that I have worn once last summer and then once I was a convert to Slimming World  I started to lose weight, plus a few lockdowns meant I didn't get a change to wear them.  Okay they maybe to go down the pub, but not on a bike where they need to be secure around the waist in the event of a fall.  I can take these off without undoing the top button or the belt! So I fell back on the RK Jeans cargo pants I have had for a few years. These are a smaller waist and I wore them on the Czech trip in May/June.  The problem is that they are very faded on the thighs where the sun has got to them.  They still fit and will still be worn. I bought this jacket almost two years ago. Last week I finally took the labels off! With covid lockdowns and an increase in bulk it was a little on the small side!   With my current weight loss at 2st 9lbs (16.78291769kg or 37lbs) I was feeling a bit more confident that after all this time, when the summer comes it will fit properly, and comfortably.  I tried it on with just a t-shirt and it's comfortable. It is a summer jacket and I don't expect to be wearing it any time soon! Time to shed a few more pounds? With the Czech trip coming up at the end of may, hopefully the weather will be better and I can wear it.   I'll need to pair it with a set of Kevlar jeans and so that means the Hood K7's I bought last year and wore once (again expanded waistline!) and that were bloody uncomfortable. The jean arrived pretty quickly.  I had put a note on the Facebook page to say my others could do with some TLC. When the news ones arrived there was a nice note inside and a return label to send the old ones back to see if they can repair the Kevlar lining where the stitching has split. I must get them packed and sent off. So far I have worn them twice.  A few weeks ago I thought I'd take the Kettle to H's for the Meldrews April meeting, but in the end the weather was bad and we went in the new car.  How do you spell wuss? In the end it was a few days later that I took Suzi the Kettle out for a shortish ride to test the fix I had had to do to a connection under the left side panel.  They were a little tight, and I put that down to lockdown, eating too much and exercising too little. After toying with cheaper makes for a few years and only really having one pair that I have been 100% happy with, I decided to buy some more Hood Jeans. At £129.99 they are mid priced. My old ones have seen road surface action on one occasion and they held up very well. So I am expecting the new improved ones to last as long and also be as protective. I do not intend to Tarmac surf in this pair on some French road that was soaked in deisel!!  But you never know. When I left a note on their FB page with a picture of the old ones they offered to take them back and see if they could fix them.... I will send them back ASAP.
