Distinguished Gentlemans Ride

Image
The ride is about a month away and  I am planning to go out for a short ride on the Kettle that day. It coincides with Meldrews Sunday so as long as the weather is decent I'll combine the two with a ride to H's at Kent Motorcycles. I don't know how dapper I will be! They have also revealed a set of posters for the event.   I guess the Kettle is a classic for the ride? Donate

International Men's Day

Image
I know. I bet you didn't have a clue it was happening today did you? I didn't until I saw it was publicised on Twitter. And why would you? It's not that important. Who cares anything about men's health problems? The number of men that commit suicide every year? No one gives a fuck.  Right? Except some of us do.  https://ukmensday.org.uk/ I forgot about it as this year I decided not to do Movember .  I already have a beard and a mustache and decided that rather than shave them off I'd look for some random (non celebrity) guy or team and donate to his fund raising.  I have done Movember since 2012 with a year off for Decembeard and have raised a few £'s for the charity.  This time my money goes elsewhere. So  https://uk.movember.com/donate/details?teamId=2385488  got my money for 2020. Raising awareness of men's health and mental health is the responsibility of all men. Not just those guys that have fallen foul of ca...

Movember's Over

Time for the "mo to go"! I achieved my goal this year. I had set it quite low and thanks to a few good friends I made it. Thanks to everyone.

Movember 2019

Image
Now that is frightening!  Sorry if you were eating when this popped up. It's the shave face.  In the previous post asking to you sponsor me for Movember   I showed the full beard face. That was shaved off without too many injuries although I nicked my bottom lip and it has been bleeding on and off since. By Friday, the official starter's gun for a month of tache growing, I'll have shave again to start off smooth.....  So please, spare even the minimum £3 and sponsor me.  My links are all over the place. It's 15 years since I had my first go and that was a charity called Tacheback. Pretty much the same ideals as Movember but now defunct.  Shame as I raised a good few quid in the two years I did it. Maybe this year's Movember will morph into Decembeard?

Movember 2019

Getting closer.  The rules are that on November 1st everyone should start with a clean shave and that entrants  keep growing a tache for the whole month.  From what I have seen there are people whose facial hair grows like quickfire bamboo. I mean that within a few days they have a lush tache.  I am starting from a full beard position. More to shave off....  Please sponsor me:   https://uk.movember.com/donate/details?memberId=2865109 This year is also FIFTEEN years since I grew my first tache for the Tacheback charity.  I followed that early success up in 2006 -  http://invictamoto.blogspot.com/2006/08/tacheback.html

Movember - On the 15th Day

Image
I have been slow at putting up updates to my Movember Mobro page as I wanted the 'tache to show up in photos. So here we are are just a few hours before the half way stage. I've not made it too large as some of you might want to eat today. *** DONATE ***

Movember... 9 days to go

*** DONATE ***

Movember....

MOVEMBER!!!! Getting nearer by the day. If all my Facebook "friends" and visitors to my blog pledged a quid, a dollar, a euro or whatever your currency is that equates to £1 sterling, then I'd make a good sum for the charity. DONATE PLEASE

It's coming....

Movember Yes, it's about six weeks away in fact and we head towards it like a rocket.... click on the link. They take loads of currencies so just a $ or a £ or even a pre-Brexit € will do.   Multiples of them even better. CLICK HERE TO DONATE!

Movember 2018

Image
After a couple of years Tache-free I have decided to have another go in 2018.  I was surprised to see that over the years I have been a Mo-Bro I have raised £625 for the charity. Men's cancer charities are very much in the shadow of women's charities and far less publicised by mainstream print and TV journalists.  Not very equal! It's time that men took more time to promote fundraising activities and this is one of them.   My page is https://mobro.co/invictamoto  or  https://uk.movember.com/mospace/2865109 Please donate, even if it is a pound or a dollar or a euro...... Every penny counts.

Movember

Forgot to post the end of Movember pic.   It's all gone now.

Movember 2016

It's 12 years since I did my first charity 'tache growing and that was with Tacheback. In fact I did Tacheback twice before it disappeared and was re-invented as Movember a number of years ago. This year, so far, fund raising has been disappointing. That's the polite way of putting it.  All I asked was for my FB friends to donate one pound or whatever local currency they have. International charities like Movember can cope with different currencies, be they dollars or euro and a myriad of others. I can't say it is hard work growing a moustache. After all, once your balls drop, hair tends to grow all over the place, the top lip being just one place.   So one last time this is my mospace:   https://uk.movember.com/mospace/2865109 There are only two days left in this Movember and the mo will be revealed late on the 30th.  Please sponsor me,  if only a quid or a buck. They all count.

Movember 2016 - T-5

The first donation has been made to this year's Movember charity event.  It was me.   Okay that might sound pretty dodgy, like the beggar that puts a few coins in the bowl to attract the passers-by to add to it, but not really. At work we have had a Nespresso Dolce Gusto coffee maker in the cupboard. It was brought in by my boss for the department to use. Like many of these things it ended up not being used after the first flush of enthusiasm and was put away. We had a look at them in a shop and I asked if I could borrow it to see if it was worth having.  My boss said I could have it.  And I said I'd donate to Movember for it. I have and I am underway.   The current beard and tache will come off over the weekend and I will start smooth skinned from Tuesday November 1st. All I need now are people to sponsor me. MY MOSPACE

Movember 2016

I have signed up again for Movember after a year off last year. I did Decembeard instead. At the moment I have a beard but that will go very soon. So should anyone feel like sponsoring me my mospace is:  https://uk.movember.com/mospace/2865109 I have set a pretty low target of £100 but I doubt I'll get close to that. It is very easy to post of Facebook and other social media about fighting cancer. But seemingly more difficult to pledge a few quid to help fight cancer for real and increase awareness.

Movember 2015

Image
Charidee Mate I didn't take part in Movember this year. I have directed my fundraising towards heart related charities as a result of the heart attack I suffered in April. I did however make a donation,  but of course, I don't like to talk about it.

Movember is over

Movember is over. Another year of growing a moustache is over. This year I did a little better than last year and raised £180.  I am hoping that someone that offered to pay a few quid will get their donation in before the cut off date of December 9th. Thanks to everyone that donated. It is a good cause and if by looking a bit of a berk for a month (silence at the back!) can help fund research that will bring an end to cancer, not just in men but everyone, then we have done good!!

Movember - Day 26

Image
Into the final trot and then Movember 2014 will come to a bumpy end... https://uk.movember.com/mobile/#profile/2865109 Thanks to everyone that has donated and I hope that as it is payday this week for most of the UK, it's a chance to donate.

Movember - Day 20

Image
It looks as though I am going to have to do some pretty drastic cutting and shaping to get the 'tache to look okay. I had been hoping for the Burt Reynolds or Sonny Bono look, but in the end it is a little too grey! Looking back through the blog history to see when I first started this caper, and it looks like 2004, although the first blog entry is back in 2006 with Tacheback . So, two thirds of the way through the month and I have raised less than ten years ago.  Not even keeping up with inflation. Here's the link again in case someone wants to spend a dollar or a pound, a zloty or whatever.  Every penny counts. http://uk.movember.com/mospace/2865109
