On the Road Again!

The boots arrived yesterday. I only opened them today and they are a light black. In fact I'd probably call it grey! Still. They look.good. Feel decent and hopefully won't show the dirt as badly as the tan pair.

At last.  I was  checking to see if any stockists were selling the boots in black. And there they were...  Moto Central selling at £72 and one pair left in my size. Ordered. The Nikko 2 boots are really comfortable on and off the bike. The downside with tan is that they get absolutely filthy from the gear change rubber and the crap that accumulates.  A previous post shows the state of them. Of course these are for the summer even though they are lined with a waterproof membrane. I've only worn the tan pair a couple of times in rain and they were good. No rain got in. There are boots called simply Nikko, but these lack the ankle strap that holds the laces in place and away from foulling the foot rests and controls. They are a little cheaper the but that lack of retaining strap put me off  They are due Royal Mail later in the week.

Arrived today. Opened them up. They are much more trendily faded on the thighs than I was expecting but hey ho! I tried them on. Reasonable fit for fat arse bloke with smaller waist than would be in proportion!  Came with fitted knee and hip armour. Plenty of Kevlar from knee to waist. Only lower leg plain denim. One early remark, they are a little lower on the hips than I like on the bike. I feel safer with my two inch leather belt keeping trousers higher up. See how they go on the bike ...

ARMR Kyoto KEVLAR® Lined Black Straight Leg Riding Jeans. I seem to have become a bit of an ARMR groupie. From waterproof overtrousers to boots and now KEVLAR® lined jeans. I wanted a lighter "summer" pair as my existing pair of KEVLAR® cargo pants are beginning to look very tatty and the Oggie 76 with their button fly are way too big.. Yes. I've only shed a tad under 2 stones (28lbs) but they are way too big. So much so I can pull them down without undoing them! Dangerous in a tumble and slide. I have a pair of Hood Jeans . These are far thicker and heavy duty and I bought them about a year ago. I wore them a few times last year and they need "wearing in". So when the Fat Skeleton shop's email arrived announcing their reductions I bought a pair. Still with 44" waist though. Why? Even as a tall thin yoof I had trouble getting off the peg suits for work as my thighs and arse were always bigger than was right for my waist. So eith...

It's getting cold and wet now, so the "summer" boots have been cleaned and put away in the wardrobe. They simply don't work with textile trousers like the ARMR Haro I wear in winter. As I was looking to see if Black Friday means I can get another pair nice and cheap I came across a rather odd review on Amazon. Unless the perp is a vegan then why could anyone want synth leather instead of the real thing? Real leather is so much stronger. I shouldn't judge but it does seem that there are some odd people about.

A while ago, I can't remember when, I bought a pair of cordura biking trousers.  These are the sort that replace ordinary jeans. They are waterproof and come with knee armour. I "found" them in the wardrobe and they still had the labels on. I have no idea where they disappeared to and how long they have been in there. As rain was expected I decided to give them a go.  Amazingly they fitted and were pretty comfortable. After last week on the trip to France when it rained for over half the trip, and I wore my Kevlar lined cargo pants and Held waterproof over trousers, and was uncomfortable I was actually looking online before I found these. I wore them for a total of 93 miles on the bike plus over seven hours standing watching the BSB racing.  The only problem is that they have a gusset affair at the front instead of the normal zip or button fly. Bike trousers that is. With the weather turning cold I decided to spend some money on another pair of padded textile trousers. The last pair did okay for a cheap pair, but eventually (and embarrassingly) split around the crotch. I suppose I was trying to pack more in than they were designed for.... 😎 Like an over stuffed sausage, something had to give. The problem with being rather portly is that the trendy makes think that an XXL waist is 36"!   Many of these companies, you all know who they are, cater for five foot tall, 100lb soaking wet, Latin Moto3 GP riders in the main. Not that one of them will ever wear a pair of Cordura and lined for all weather trousers..... So after trawling about on Black Friday, something else we have accepted from our US cousins, I found one of the large online bike shops, Ghostbikes, selling larger sizes.  I entered the discount code and was pleasantly surprised to get a good few pounds off and free delivery.  Next day. ...
