The Isle of Sheppey
Sunday
Malibu Molly was booked into the FIAT specialist garage in Sittingbourne on Monday 14th September.
The plan was originally to drive off early from home with Google Maps indicating the journey would be around an hour from home. Although that didn't take into account the roads and traffic.
So at the last minute I looked for a Caravan Club CL or Camping & Caravan Club CS.
That's how we ended up at the CL at Rides House Farm CL on the Isle of Sheppey. It was the nearest to Burgess.
Again Google Maps was a little off with 11 miles and 22 minutes. The maths means an average of 30mph.
As we didn't know if they would need to keep the van, I drove up with Claire following in the Juke.
We made good time. Once at the new Sheppey crossing it was quite amazing! It is quite a steep climb and of course, steep on the way down ... After that it's single carriageway to Eastchurch and beyond.
Once through the gates and on the pitch.
We had about 45 minutes to have a rest and coffee, then set off for my brother Neill's house in Sittingbourne.
The route on the Juke's satnav took us off the Island, retracing our steps, and then off through the huge Eurolink industrial past Burgess. So at least we knew where it was!
After an afternoon chatting with my aunt Y as well as Neill and Catherine we headed back.
From never being over the Sheppey roller-coaster before, we had done it three times in three hours.
Monday
We were up at 7am and on the road about 7.45am. I had to jump it with the Noco Boost. The first time from a "cold start" in over three weeks. It may be as I started it twice last night without driving away.
The idea that it would take 22 mins to Burgess was immediately thwarted by the satnav showing a 10 minute delay on the single lane road before the huge bridge.
We finally arrived at 8.25am. It seems we were first there. We had we a chat with the technician and left.
I drove the Juke home.
At around 3.10pm they called. All fixed. There was quite problem with the battery and it's resolved.
We go back and collect it on Tuesday morning.
Fingers crossed 🤞 it's fixed.
It means I can throw away my hand made reminder.....
