Southern Motorhome and Campervan Show 2026 - Home Day

Monday

We had to be off site no later than midday and so we had started packing away the night before.

Reggie was up and out several times from before 7am and I was feeling tired by the time I got up and joined Claire for breakfast.

I took him out as she was washing and getting ready. As we were in a large field with fences all round, I let him wander off lead.  The van next to us had a young small cockapoo that was a little timid. Behind them was a nice couple with a very friendly, and again young, poodle.  Reggie and it got on, sniffing etc.

As we were talking one of the marshals came over to say there was an accident on the M4 and no one could get off the site.  In the end that was later amended to a person jumping from a bridge onto the road.

Under cover of all this Reggie went and ate the poodles breakfast out of its bowl! Whilst I was apologising he went next door and peed on their awning carpet.... I got him away again.

By around 1030am the queue of vans looked to be clearing and so we finished packing up.

I made a note of the mileage on the odometer and also the percentage of power left in the Fogstar battery. The idea was to check when we got home and see what both figures were. The Fogstar was 70% last night. The little bit of sun this morning had taken it up to 74%.

I also took a photo of the gauge on the top of the LPG bottle we have been using whilst away. Despite the electrical upgrade we still have to use LPG for the fridge and heating. After the oddity of only getting three litres of gas in on Thursday I wanted to check it the next time we have to fill up.

Checking everything was locked up we set off. It was pretty much plain sailing onto the M4 and then off at Bracknell.  The usual A329 route was chock full before the end of the A329M.  So I went off and planned to circumnavigate Bracknell. That didn't go well, as they had roadworks in Binfield.

By the time we got back to the A329 and A322 it looked clear!!

More plain sailing to Cobham Services. There are so many poor drivers on the road and some downright dangerous. Maybe I should become a dashcam bore!

After Reggie's walk we went across to the main building and I opened the McDonald's app and ordered two coffees. We drank these in the van whilst having a sandwich Claire made.

I checked the Fogstar app.... 100%. We have a system fitted that charges the engine battery and the leisure battery from the van's engine/alternator. In fifty miles of driving it had fully charged the Fogstar! That fills us with confidence for longer trips away.

From Cobham it was an easy run back home.  Some patches of rain here and there.

And there it is. Another trip over.
