Bristol Balloon Fiesta - August

I am only looking at a couple of days at the rally. The Motor Caravanners Club rally campsite is almost next to where the balloon fiesta is held. The fiesta is free to enter, but if you park in one of the official car parks they take donations.

I don't think we'd be there for the entire long weekend that the fiesta will be on for, but maybe get there on the 5th or 6th before the balloon goes up....

I have no idea how big the rally field is and hopefully there will be more information in the club's magazine nearer the time. It's a shame it's a no booking rally.

We have been to Bristol before. In the early 2000's we stayed in the Youth Hostel in the old and upmarket docks. It was during the balloon fiesta and we were on the top floor. We could sit on the loo and watch the balloons go over.

A couple of years ago we drove through on the way to Cheddar Gorge.

Roadtest - Suzuki TU250X

(Originally written and published on the old Geocities hosted SOC website in 1997)   With the UK Government thinking of ways to force commuters onto public transport on the one hand, soaking the motorist with the other hand - road tolls, commuting into City tolls, increased in Vehicle Excise Duty on top of another hike in petrol tax, the motorcycle couldn't be better placed to provide personal transport when you want it, in a more 'environmentally friendly' way. So when I was offered the latest addition to the Suzuki commuter range, the TU250X, I was actually quite looking forward to trying a bike that might fit the bill for the beleaguered commuter of the future.
