Meldrews Sunday
With the early morning temperature touching 25°C I pulled Suzi out of the sweaty garage.
Sweatier even more by the time I had my helmet and gloves on. Suzi fired first stab of the button, choke engaged. Burbled over nicely.
Living in a small town with a couple of miles of seafront means traffic. Traffic and lots of it.
I chugged along into Hythe and onto London Road. The traffic into town that way was tailed back way out of the town limits. Summer and sun ...
Once free of the traffic, Suzi ran easily up to my 3500 rev ceiling whilst running the engine in. This equates to around 60mph. Perfect for A roads but a little slow on the M20.
She humned along quite nicely to that ceiling. A little boggy on a bigger hill.
At H's I parked up. It's always a good feeling when people go and look at your bike. 😁
I had set the Yamaha My Ride app to run and "finished" the ride.
I ordered a bacon sandwich and a tea and was tucking in when Meldrew Cal arrived. He is bikeless after selling his F800 and waiting for his Forza 350 to be delivered.
We chewed the fat for a while and checked on the progress of his Forza order.
Then home. It was a bit hotter and sticky getting my jacket on.
Suzi started first press again. I set the app again and set off. I decided to go along the A2 to Whitfield and then through Alkham Valley. The car-park at Kearsney Abbey was overflowing. The summer and sun will do that.
At the other end of the valley I took the short run to Folkestone and then a convoluted run around Folkestone West and thought about petrol. Not because I needed it but that I wanted to check consumption.
I was going into Tesco, but their Unleaded 95 octane is now E10 so I headed down to the coast and Seabrook Garage and their BP 95 that is still E5.
I took a quick photo to remember the odometer reading.
The road to the station was packed both sides. Luckily Prince's Parade from Seabrook to the Imperial Hotel in Hythe has parking only on one side... It was jam packed.
With the food festival on in Hythe as well all roads were jammed with enough room for a small bike to squeeze through. Suzi too.
Once home and on the drive I ended the Yamaha app and took another picture of the odometer for journey's end.
Okay, it's only another 40 or so miles towards the running in 500 miles!!! The total is now 207 miles.
Another photo of Suzi on the drive.
I put the fuel up details into Fuelly. The result. 35.67mpg....
