New car - Nissan Juke N-Connecta

Well, new to us anyway.  We had a look but during the pandemic it was difficult to get test drives. Even so we visited our local Nissan dealer after some Googling different makes and models, and got the test drive we needed.

I had a look at the Toyota C-HR hybrid that my brother has and whilst the prices were around our budget the mileages were all over 24000!  I don't have much confidence in the battery situation! My brother has his serviced every year and they warranty the battery.

It was a surprise when the Nissan dealer offered us part-exchange on both the Insignia and the Corsa against the Juke. The total package means we need to raid the piggy banks for £10000!

With WFH I am not using the Insignia very much. In fact the last year with the pandemic and all I managed only 3379 miles between MoT tests. That was February 1st 2020 to February 3rd 2021. Usually we do between 7000 and 8000.

They are getting a good deal as both cars were serviced in February under the service plans from the Vauxhall dealership and both have new long MoT's!  Mine also comes with about £75 of diesel that I only put in last week! Claire's comes with a proper spare wheel instead of the puncture repair goo kit!

We test drove two cars.  Firstly a seven speed automatic Juke N-Connecta. This one is their demonstrators and is metallic blue and has about 3300 miles on the odometer.

We had the car for almost an hour and drove around to get used to the handling. With a small 1.0 litre turbocharged engine I wanted to see how it coped with hills.  To get out of Hythe there is always a hill. It coped very well.  In fact I was most impressed.

Then we drove the six speed manual.  This is the other demonstrator with about 5400 miles on the odometer and was in Pearl White.  The drive itself was much the same apart from the manual shift.

We decided we liked the automatic best.  I was thinking of the future and as we get older maybe automatic would be better. Spending £18000 on a car is the most we have ever spent other than on the house, so it needs to be future proof to some extent.

It also means that we will become a one car household again. I'll have to keep the Rocket a bit longer then. :)

We collect it on Friday. The money will go by bank transfer on Friday lunchtime and we can collect it after 3pm.

I will miss not having my own car.  Since I inherited the Punto from my Mum back in 2008 (I think) and then bought the Insignia in 2014 I have got  used to having one. Before that I last had a car in my name in the mid-90's.
