The eye so far...

It's about 52 hours since I had my left eye operated on. This time I seemed to be under the influence of something strange!  Maybe the local anaesthetic contained some hallucinogen!

On the chair and leaning back they put a huge mat over my face, with an air pipe so I could breathe. It was sticky on one side and stuck to my face and beard.  Then the surgeon cut the hole where he was going to be operating.

At this point I had to look straight ahead into the lights on the gantry that was pulled down over me.

For some strange reason the cluster of three lights looked like a face. Two eyes and a larger open mouth! I likened this to an "Angry Chimp".

I stared into it and it seemed to move nearer to my eye and then blur and then go away again. Back into focus it lost the angry look. Then it moved in the for kill!  And it was all over.

Wow!

I sat up as requested and found I had the clear plastic eye guard on. The nurse took me to the adjoining room where I was given the drops for the next four weeks and my discharge paperwork.

After a few hours on Saturday until the anaesthetic wore off I felt nothing. It was sunny and I had to keep my eye closed as Claire drove me home. It was simply too bright with my pupil still fully dilated. After lunch I had a lie down as I was getting a headache.

Later, once it had worn off I felt the "gritty" feeling when I opened and closed it. I kept the eye guard on all day and night.

On Sunday I took the guard off so that I could wear sunglasses as it was bright again. In fact, everything it brighter without cataracts.  The day went by.

The drops regime started and at the time of writing my sight is pretty much 100% in both eyes.  I need to blink occasionally as they both seems to get a little blurry.  I need to mention that to the docs when they call up to see how I am getting on.

Last time I took a few days off work, but this time I have made the mistake of working today.  It's bright.

My eyes are now set for distance and I can't really read the computer screen nor my phone clearly.

I was told not to buy reading glasses until the drops are finished and the four weeks have passed by, and I have had the eye checked

Can you see where they cut?

Hopefully, Poundland will have some nice cheapy reading glasses. That's where my contact lens wearing brother gets his!

The £24 sunglasses are still doing a great job. I am not getting very far with having my Ray-Ban spectacles put back to non prescription lenses. I guess there is no money in it!!
