SP26 - Day 4 Part 2
We were right at the rear left on Deck 3 on the ferry and so we were probably the last off that deck.
Due to some jiggery pokery the deck has to be cleared before Deck 4 could be cleared.
There was some holdup as a couple in a UK registered Porsche took their time coming down and vans and cars had had to squeeze past them. They took their time putting their bags in, then just forced their way into the column a few vans in front of us. Ignorant or arrogant?
The queue for passports and EES was quite quick. Claire's Irish passport was checked and returned. I had to do my fingerprints and have my photo taken. The next was pet check. They had the pre-registration details and checked his pet passport and waved us through.
It was a much different exit that we had way back in 2014 through the large industrial port to the A67 motorway.
The route that TomTom had was simple. Two motorways, A67 and A8, a stop off at a Mercadona, then to the site.
Instead once again, it took us off the motorway into Torrelavega. It looks a nice town but not what we wanted to do. Why?
It then took us to the A8 where we should have been some 20 minutes before.
The stress of this and then a railway level crossing!!!
The Mercadona stop was strange as it looked as though we were on another TomTom brain fade. Luckily it wasn't.
Shopping done and TomTom then wanted us to go back towards Santander....
Once overruled we were on the right path. Arriving at check in at about 5.30pm.
We are on pitch 610 for the next two nights. The pitch is a green painted concrete slab. It takes a bit of toing and froing to get where you want. With the hab sliding door on the right we tent to reverse in to avoid doors facing each other. The pitch next to us is a British caravan also backed in as they usually are....
It's large site but apart from a strange beeping every 5 seconds at night, and a few barking dogs, not Reggie, it's relaxed.
We got the table and chairs out and sat out for a while. The temperature was around 20°C but overcast.
Reggie is on the long lead and I have screwed the peg into the ground. Well, halfway. The ground is like concrete. He has taken to lying on the grass under the rear bumper.
Tonight we'll test the site WiFi and watch some YouTube. The bar has lots of Spanish in football shirts as they are playing tonight in the World Cup.
Dinner is the tuna pasta salad washed down with some 95¢ a litre Belgian beer....
Until tomorrow....
