May Day Weekend - CANCELLED
Why? The bee sting that I got whilst away in Wantage at Off Grid was very infected. It seems that after 70 years on this earth, this is the first time any of the stripey little bastards have stung me. It also seems that I am allergic to bee venom!!!
The reaction led to a visit to the pharmacist on Wednesday after I got back as what was a little sting had spread around 4 by 2 inches around my arm. It was painful to touch. The pharmacist gave me anti-histamine pills and a tube of cream.
By the end of the week it was still getting redder and the inflammation spread almost to my elbow. I tried to keep it covered.

| One pissy little bee sting!! |
On the train home on Saturday evening I got into a long chat with two nice ladies who were concerned about the size and how nasty it looked.
So Sunday when we were supposed to be going to the Hop Farm, we went to the minor injuries clinic at Folkestone Royal Victoria Hospital. Luckily it was quite empty and we were seen in an hour. The nurse practitioner checked it over, put a cover dressing on the actual sting hole, and then gave me a week of anti-biotics.
I emailed the Hop Farm to say that we couldn't make it and why. I knew within 31 days there was no refund. Bummer.
On the bright side they came back to say that they didn't refund but I could book another time in the next 12 months. Just book using the email they had sent. Very decent of them.
