Oldham Athletic @ Dorking Wanderers

Image
A glutton for punishment? Maybe. Boxing Day will see Latics away at Notts County, currently the National League leaders.  Latics third from bottom. What could possibly go wrong? This game though is in Dorking in Surrey. I hadn't realised they had a football team this high in the English league pyramid!  At the time of writing they are 15th in the league. They are also the first of only five wins Latics have had all season. What are the chances of a win? Anyway senior e-tickets are £13 and I bought one today.

Tripit Annual Stats

Image
I have been using the Tripit app on my phone for around a decade. I use it to build my trips and keep all the bookings in one place. This year it has covered all the trips I gave done with Claire and Reggie, and also my bike trips. It was a surprise that the mileage or kilometerage was so high. In comparison, COVID affected 2021 was way lower. What about 2020? Guess? Higher or Lower? Bloody COVID!!!

MAG News: MAG ends 2022 feeling positive

The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG), the UK’s leading voice for riders’ rights, is looking forward to another year of positive outcomes for motorcyclists. As 2022 draws to a close, MAG will not be resting on its laurels. Following a number of significant successes throughout the year, the organisation will soon be gearing up for another year of defending riders’ rights and contributing to the decision-making processes of national and local Government. Reflecting on the past year, MAG’s Chair, Neil Liversidge, said: “This year has seen a return to vigorous campaigning wherever we identify a need. All of our members contribute to this, whether by simply continuing to support MAG with their membership, being politically active or arranging fundraising events, and I offer my grateful thanks to them all. MAG has chalked up a number of successes, including the commissioning of an independent review of the scientific argument behind the Government’s plan to ban all new internal combustion engi...

Motorcycle chain lubrication tool for 525 to 610 chains

Image
A job that I find tedious. Oiling the chain. At least I have a centre stand on both bikes to be able to spin the wheel. No matter how careful you are it is so easy to get lube on the wheel and tyre! Hopefully this gizmo works!

The Longest Day?

Image
The longest day in the van for a long while if not ever.  Google not totally accurate as the crossing from Calais to Dover was more like 22 miles and 95 minutes. But the road miles isn't too inaccurate.

Christmas Presents ..

For Suki. Not us. Replacing the one that I managed to lose when we were away recently. One second in my hand. Next gone. Went for brass this time! The Kettle. It seems this is the de-rigeur kettle to have. It comes in a variety of colours and Claire chose this green colour. I preferred a more restrained blue. The prices range from £20 to £38 for this size and a few pounds more for the 2.5 litre version. I bought this on eBay as local suppliers were around double the price. I do support local shops but not when they want double the money. The levellers we bought months ago didn't come with a bag. So I had to buy one.  The bag is supposed to fit the triples that we bought.  We won't find out any time soon as the bag is here and the levellers are with Suki in the storage unit.

Suki gone to secure storage!

Image
Owning a motorhome is a costly business. On top of the  costs of buying one, running it (fuel, insurance, road tax) there is having somewhere to store it. Suki has just gone to secure storage at JC where we bought it in April. Whilst there there are a few jobs that need to be looked at in the workshop.  A leaking tap and a problem we had with the EHU needed fixing.

MAGNews: Motorcycle Licencing review may be an outcome of new DVSA strategy group

Roads Minister, Richard Holden MP, has confirmed to the Motorcycle  Action Group (MAG) that a motorcycle licencing review may come soon.  A  review could be an outcome from a newly forming DVSA Motorcycle Strategy  Group.  Confirmation came following MAG’s latest report on motorcycle  licencing published in November. Richard Holden has responded to recommendations put forward in a report,  published by MAG, that asks for further research into CBT rider numbers.    Furthermore, MAG recommends a review of the licencing system to get  more CBT riders converting to fully qualified riders, and  believes that  a simplified system should increase the number of riders on the road  whilst also improving safety. The Minister wrote:   “… the issues you have raised are important to this Department and the  Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) […..] this Department is  currently establishing a new motorcycle s...

Alcossebre Apartment review

Image
RCI sent a questionnaire about our stay and I gave them most of the answers. Then they suggested I write a review.  If only their webpage would let me post!!! Here it is though. The marvel of copy and paste...... Not a great start. Couldn't get keys from the key-box as it wouldn't open. Reception is closed all weekend. So we called the emergency number and a lad arrived on his bicycle. He tried and couldn't open it. Called his dad who arrived by car. He tried and then went and got some molegrips. Banged it to open it. Went into apartment. Live cockroaches in bedroom and bathroom. Killed them and disposed of them and already dead corpses outside! Toilet flush missing the button on top of cistern. It worked but often needed help to stop water running constantly. Reported to Reception on Monday when checked in. Also reported the 'roach problem. Men fixed cistern. Could also do with cleaning into the corners of the tiled rooms. That's all of them BTW! The bathroom was...
