The upper pond at Radnor Park.

Radnor Park Duck Pond

Right next to the Royal Victoria Day Hospital in Folkestone. There are two ponds on each side of the road. The upper of the two is for fishermen and the lower left to the birds.

Battery Dead!

Took the charged spare battery out and cobbled it up and the bike clicked and clicked on the starter and that was it. Need to get the battery out I think or try to jump the bugger from the car. Hope it doesn't have to be taken elsewhere!!

Another test of the Sigma UC 70-210mm Zoom

Image
Another test of the Sigma UC 70-210mm Zoom , originally uploaded by Invicta Moto . I bought the lens as a gamble on eBay for £30 inc postage and as an EF lens it ought to work on the Canon 300D. The seller reckoned it was working on his 450D. Bought "as seen" it worked at first but not on all modes. Then on a trip out it didn't work at all! I chucked it in the back of the car and rescued it to give it a go. Maybe the thud in the car did something as it started working in P and Av modes.

It's always a gamble with eBay. At the end of the day the seller knew very well that the lens was buggered but simply wanted to rip someone off.  You win some. You lose some.

Tickets arrived this morning. Our summer holiday starts on Saturday with a trip up to the O2 for the concert and then a day off before we set off for Czech.

I've not been to a Cup Final since 2003 when Arsenal beat Southampton 1-0 in Cardiff. So the chance to go to Wembley for another Final was too much to ignore!

Zd'ar nad Sazavou - Rough Guide

Image
Bloody good this Rough Guide! Well worth it. The monastery here is a major pilgrimage site and is a curious star shape.  I was going to add it to the route home, but with The Church of Bones at Sedlec, Kutna Hora already planned for the trip I have factored it into the run from Liberec and Hradec Kralove. Another delve into Rough Guide to get information on this place. Photo courtesy of Panoramio.com I saw it when Charley McEwan Inc went there on The Long Way Round so it looks like another place on the way back from Brno.

WNR 2011

Sent the forms back earlier in the week. So now need to look around for somewhere to stay overnight on Friday and Saturday. Touching wood that there are no problems this year.

Reading the Rough Guide to The Czech Republic I came across one of the side boxes that gives some information on the nuclear power station. For a 2009 edition is rather wishy washy liberal about a nuke station. I suppose living across Hythe Bay from Dungeness means I look at this from a different perspective! Photo courtesy of Panoramio Back in 1993 I was on the main road that passed near the site and spent an unhappy afternoon caught in the traffic jams. Held up by (mainly Austrian muppets and rentamob)  in fallout suits (actually white coveralls) and gas masks! When I got to the front, the coppers let me ride through. Pollution? The GT smoked for all it was worth!
