Off Grid Day 3
The final day.
I had a lie in until 9am and then went across to see Nigel and the team to say that I had transferred the money across for the work, and that it was all looking good and working.
It was about 9.30am by the time I tidied everything away and set off for the fuel station at Grove. Bellingers Isuzu is not far from Williams F1. Yesterday when we went past on the bus diesel was £1.819. The cheapest I have seen for a long while. When I got there it was even cheaper, at £1.799! I know, getting excited by a fuel price 30p more than two months ago. If our dodgy government had followed other European governments then they would have cut the tax for a while.
I filled up to the click as I always do. 63.10 litres! Or £113.50!!!!!!!!
At least with the slow speeds to get home it should last a bit longer.
With that I set the TomTom for home and we set off through Wantage and towards Newbury and the M4. The route takes you over what is basically the Ridgeway, one of the oldest walkways/trails in the UK. Passing a part of it showed it was barriered off with "no motor vehicles" signs.
I was keeping to around 35 to 40 on these roads as they were very winding and bumpy. Once on the M4 at Chieveley I let the speed creep up to 50mph. Nigel said that the sealant etc for the newly added solar panel needed to be cured and although it was well on the way, keeping the seed down was essential. So 50 it was!
I was thinking about breakfast. As the traffic was flowing freely I decided to keep going to Cobham on the M25. Amazingly through Bracknell to the M3 was moving well. The problem with the M3 to M25 junction is that the lane for the off ramp to the southbound M25 is the third lane. At 50mph crossing two lanes was hairy. But I achieved it with minimal effort and fuss. It's similar to getting into the lane much later on to get from the M25 to the M26. The lanes I needed are 3 and 4.
I stopped at Cobham Services. Traffic going the other way was queued back miles and I was glad that for once I was going east not west!!!
Using the McDonald's app I ordered a coffee and a cheeseburger. It was ready when I got across there. As I ate I managed to get the Pioneer sound system to Bluetooth to my phone to play music. I couldn't get it to play the Amazon Music I have bought and paid for (!) but it did play a country music playlist of their making. The DAB radio keeps cutting out.

The drive the rest of the way was uneventful. At such a slow speed you do get to see more!!
Back home and unpacked by 2pm.
Where next to play with the new setup?
