Oggie 76 Bike Jeans
As I was looking through the wardrobe the Oggie jeans fell out and lay at my feet. "Wear me" they seemed to cry out. So I have.
A few rides over the last couple of weeks. If you click on the "labels" below it will take you to previous mentions of these jeans in the blog.
They are quite strongly made and they came with armour to fit in the knee and hip pockets sewn into the inside of the jeans. The coverage of Kevlar isn't as much as the more expensive jeans but covers the areas that you may be expected to slide along the road in the event of a spill.
The have a little elastane in the denim and that little give makes them comfortable on the bike when sitting. The knee pockets aren't adjustable and I find when walking that the armour settles a little too low and needs to be pulled up over the knee when the legs are bent.
What I don't think I mentioned before is that they have a three button fly instead of a zip! More 501 than YKK! This hasn't proved to be a problem so far.
The bugbear with only having a single belt loop at the back hasn't been as bad as I thought it was before. Instead my attention is with the front pockets. They are simply not deep enough, especially when on the bike. They don't make you feel encouraged that loose change won't fly out!
So were they worth the approximately £40 I paid for them in the summer of 2017? I have to say yes. Luckily I haven't had to test them by falling off (touch wood!) and they are comfortable enough on the bike and off it.
