Ride to the Emirates

Today I decided to ride up rather than using the train. It's not much different in time although it is a little better on the wallet.

I also need to get some miles under Vera's wheels for the Kilometerfresser competition this year. Around 150 today, so around 240 kms for my August miles.

With kick off at 1230, I wanted to be there an hour or so before. So I aimed to leave home at 0945. It was more like 0950 when I set off.

I set the Yamaha My Ride app to track my journey. More of that later.

I cruised up the M20, keeping to the speed limits (!) even through the Operation Brock 50mph. It seems that probably it was only me and a few others that stick to it!! Do these drivers ignoring the limit ever get a ticket?

Traffic wasn't too bad until the Blackwall Tunnel. It seems the modern Londoner is incapable of driving!

Once on the "London" side it's a mix of 40mph limits even on the "motorway" section past the Olympic Park. From then, ridiculous 20mph limits!

All it does it create congestion, but should any pedestrians or worse, cyclists, get in the way, then they will be maimed rather than killed ....

I arrived at St Joan of Arc Church at around 1125. By the time I had locked up and set off it was getting on.

I stopped the My Ride app. It seemed to have worked.

I was certain it had saved and showed it to Neill and Phil when I joined them at the stadium.

After the game Phil and I walked back to the church. His BMW was parked at the back of the parking.

I set the Yamaha app again... And saw the counter click running.

Traffic was very heavy as I retraced my steps to the Blackwall Tunnel. It seemed there was an incident and so I opted for the A13 route and crossed back into Kent over the Dartford Crossing. The A2 route took me to Chatham and I filled the tank at the ASDA and then onto the M20.

Arriving home at around 1725.

I went to switch off My Ride but despite it starting it has failed and was still claiming the ride up wasn't saved! It really is crap. So I no longer have any details of my roundabout way home.

The fuel up showed 56.3mpg.
