Givi Airflow - Self Lowering!

Since returning from the Czech rally, I have cleaned the upper and lower portions of the Airflow screen.

The upper (and outer most) section gets all the flies and of course in the rain it gets filthy.  The lower section that is fixed to the fairing simply gets filthy.

In the rain the upper does a great job of keeping the wet off the upper body and neck of the rider.  I have it set about halfway along the possible positions as I prefer to look over it rather than through it. The lower however does its best to direct any water that hits it up and into your face!

The upside to this screen is that you can ride with it (for me anyway) as I have set it and the buffeting from the wind that wobbles the riders head is all but gone.

It is even possible to ride at up to (cough cough) 80mph (indicated of course!!) and be almost totally wind free. It meant in Germany when we were having a few 30°C days on the back roads and it was stifling hot, I was was gasping for air!  I lowered it and that helped with ventilation!

However, since I got back it has decided to be self lowering! With the vibration it gradually slides down.  I had no idea how to fix it and posted on the V-Strom FB page for help.

I got it....

Screen adjustment locked tight.

Removing the screen reveals a nut to tighten the screen adjustment a little.  I hadn't even noticed this when I fitted it!

Tighten the nut to make the adjuster work harder to grip the screen

The screen slides in from the top into the slot you can see to the left of the nut. It can't drop out at the bottom though. The upper screen has two small bends at the top that won't fit through the slit.

Vera in gold!

I have only been out once since I sussed this and that was to the MoT on Tuesday. When of course it rained and all the good work with the waterless cleaner on the screens and paintwork was lost!  Grrrr.
