Vera - Packed and Ready

Image
Inner bag packed and in the top box ready to go. It's a test run. The bag fits in the bottom of the box and the lid space is Emory. One pannier contains waterproofs and the other currently nothing.  It gives me expansion space! I'll have the Givi tankbag with me as well. Maybe I can drop it in there for security during stops. Of course, Baloo will be along on the trip too. Hoping the 800kč I have left over from a previous trip is still usable! DFDS now indicating that we should check-in two hours before sailing... Sailing is 8am.

Last game of the season

Image
Although a comprehensive destruction of a poor Everton side 5-1 it wasn't enough to qualify for the Champions League. The losses in April and then again to rivals Spurs last week sealed their fate. At the beginning of the season to finish 5th would have seemed a stretch. Onwards... https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-highlights/video/36504/12619171/arsenal-5-1-everton-premier-league-highlights

Kilometerfresser April

Image
I haven't entered any mileage for April 2022 for either of the bikes. I have some mileage but forgot.  I'll wait until the end of May and enter them.  I am currently down to 116th in the table. If I had added the meagre mileages for April it would have left me 110th or maybe 109th! Maybe my trip to Czech will add about 2400 kilometres on Vera and I have about 100 on Suzi. https://www.kilometerfresser.eu/kf/kilometerfresserrangliste.htm

Ride to Work Day 2022

Image
Ride to Work Day this year is June 20th 2022. http://ride-to-work-day.mag-uk.org/ I don't have any work to ride to, but I suppose I could ride to my volunteering "job" at Kent Greyhound Rescue?

Moving Some Posts to Travellerspoint!

I decided that trying to maintain different platforms for the blog(s) was getting difficult to maintain and so I have decided to move most the travel blogs to Travellerpoint. This one stays in Blogger though. All the vehicle specific blogs such as "Suzi Triplo" will stay in Blogger. Only any that are travel oriented such as "Cruising" and "Devall Travel" have been given up and entries in future will be in  The new home of Devall Travels .

Three go to Devon Again

Image
On the way at about 1.30pm. The Satnav says 3.35h to get to the Back of Beyond Campsite. Keeping to 60mph meant we arrived at scheduled pee stop for Reggie and coffee and cake for us was about two hours. From home the Satnav decided it was 155 miles. At Fleet Services Reggie had his dinner and we had a Starbucks and a cake from Waitrose that we bought this morning. Before I forget. May 4th - Star Wars Day.

Staycation - Back of Beyond to Brixham

Image
We were up early. When you have a dog and are in a confined space, when he is awake so are you.  We were all three of us ready for breakfast when we went over to collect fresh baguettes and croissants. We opted for one baguette between two for breakfast with Claire's homemade marmalade.  Then we were off. Emptying the grey water at the service point, then on the A35 with the first destination of West Bay near Bridport.  The A35 was again busy even though we had left the site before 11am. One of the problems in this area seems to be the dual carriageway roads become single lane, this leads to tailbacks as the traffic has to merge. The same happens on the A303 near Stonehenge. At West Bay we found a parking area for motorhomes near to the old station. There is a buffet in a short length of carriages. At £1.50 an hour it's cheaper than at home. We had a walk around the harbour and along the promenade to look at the cliffs and see the gang gliders, some up close. ...

Staycation - Brixham

Image
Today we stayed locally in Brixham. My brother Neill and my niece Eleanor were going to visit. We were up about 0830, although as usual Reggie had kept us occupied from about 0530. He wakes at dawn and needs to have a comfort break! Once breakfasted I took Reggie for a short walk on the path behind the house that goes to Berry Head. It doesn't show up on Google Maps. We got about halfway before turning around.  The relatives arrived about 1125 and we had a chat and then decided to walk down to Brixham itself. We are about a km to the south on top of the hill. It was hot and so I wore my new Chinese hat. It did the job of keeping the sun off but is still horrible.  It won't last the week in my possession. Going downhill was easy enough with no thought of getting back... Loads of scenic views. Murder on ageing knees. Lunch was by the replica of the Golden Hind in the harbour. A meal-deal from the Co-Op. We took a walk around the ha...

Delkevic Baffles Fitted

Suzi had the new baffles fitted today. Good job I checked her into Cheriton Motorcycles as there were problems. One of the small exhausts had lost the crossbar to pull it out. Another of them had broken inside.  Both needed a tool made up with an ezy-out to pull the broken bits out. Something I wouldn't have managed in a year of Sundays! In the end all sorted and the new ones are all nice and shiny.  Won't last long!  But now I have new ones I can keep a check on them!

New MAG campaign for default bus lane access

Image
The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) is today launching a new campaign for  default bus lane access.  New research shows that motorcycles can  currently use 48% of all ‘with-flow’ bus lanes in the UK.  MAG say it is  MAG has released a new report that for the first time collates UK-wide  information on motorcycle access in bus lanes.  The report shows that of  the 159 local transport authorities with bus lanes, just 56 allow  motorcycle access. Report author Colin Brown said: “This research has revealed the successes of three decades of  campaigning by MAG on this issue.  Given the complexity and stumbling  blocks placed between a coherent national policy and a totally  unnecessary exclusion of motorcycles from bus lanes, we have done well  to gain access to 48% of the nation’s bus lanes.  We have also shown the  ludicrous situation where access permissions change along certain routes  or in opposite direc...

Oldham Athletic RIP

Image
After 127 years and 115 of them in the Football League, the current useless owners have killed the club. Relegated to the National League.  One bunch of arseholes after another have run the club into the ground.  Bastards. https://us20.campaign-archive.com/?e=b7525e06d4&u=38f469d852e751f99dd2edc02&id=5441d2ad24

Suzi caught on camera!

Nothing bad.  On the way back from Rye last weekend we past the Get-a-Pics photographer. Here's what I decided to buy from their website.
