Sissinghurst Castle Garden
We were going to head over to Dial Post in West Sussex to join in "Soup Day" with the Sussex group of the Motor Caravanners' Club.
In the end after the storm that passed through and some flooding over there, and a very negative forecast, we opted to stay locally instead.
So, that meant we had a simple drive over to Sissinghurst Castle and a walk there.
The usual motorhome parking area was closed and we had to park in the coach parking. There were no coaches so no problem. We did clear this with the reception.
Usually, when there are no volunteers working the entrance, it's like a free for all with cars all over the place and filling the disabled parking with no blue badges on display. Today. No problems.
Once past reception and checked in, Claire headed for the shop and Reggie and I went for a walk around the outside of the garden. He's not allowed in the garden itself.
We didn't get far as the path around the moat was very muddy, wet and potholed.
I had the Nikon D50 with me and it was playing up a bit. It kept coming up with a few errors on the screen when looking through the viewfinder.
Despite the errors I did get some of the buildings and then the battery ran out! I have spares but they are in the van! I posted a few of the photos from the D50 on our Instagram account.
We bought lunch from the café onsite. A sausage roll and a coffee. The plan to eat in the van. We did that.
We couldn't get Reggie's passport signed as Sissinghurst is not in the National Trust scheme. Around 50% of the people today had dogs of all shapes and sizes with them.
Lunch finished we had a short read of our Kindles and then decided to set off for home.
