Stena Ferry?

I was still thinking of a trip further north in Europe and took a look at the daytime crossing from Harwich to the Hook of Holland.

It's cheap enough but with a 9am sailing it would mean an overnight nearby. Dogs are allowed onboard in either the van, in a kennel or a pet cabin. With the cheapest option it's £215. 

The overnight leaves at 11pm. It's vastly more expensive at £332!

It's ruled itself out of the running.

Where?

My thoughts are shifting towards Germany and possibly the Czech Republic. 

We've been to both many times but not in the campervan or motorhome. I have some stellplatz (camping aires) books to give us an idea of places to stay. 

Once in the ČR then I might struggle to find aires and campsites as there aren't many in the books.

There's also several apps to use as well.

(Originally written and published on the old Geocities hosted SOC website in 1997)   With the UK Government thinking of ways to force commuters onto public transport on the one hand, soaking the motorist with the other hand - road tolls, commuting into City tolls, increased in Vehicle Excise Duty on top of another hike in petrol tax, the motorcycle couldn't be better placed to provide personal transport when you want it, in a more 'environmentally friendly' way. So when I was offered the latest addition to the Suzuki commuter range, the TU250X, I was actually quite looking forward to trying a bike that might fit the bill for the beleaguered commuter of the future.
