Marlowe Theatre Panto 2025 - Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
Yesterday, December 23rd, was my 70th birthday! The day my new driving licence kicks in and I can no longer drive vehicles over 3.5t. I doubt I was going to anyway!
We decided that as we were going to the panto in Canterbury that we use Molly instead of the car. It would mean we could dump the accumulated grey waste and get the park and ride bus into the city centre. We would have used the park and ride in the car.
Parking in Canterbury is a nightmare in any case. Plus, they have had no thought at all into providing car owners and visiting drivers with roads that keep traffic flowing. In the end there are three park and rides.
Luckily, Canterbury City Council are quite forward thinking in another area as one of the park and rides is home to a dedicated "motorhome aire". This is at New Dover Road. There is a grid for both grey and black waste, cassette cleaning and grid washing down water and further back, a fresh water tap where you can attach your own hose.
Our panto kicked off at 2.30pm at the Marlowe Theatre and we left home well in time. Surprisingly, the aire was almost empty. Two days before Christmas? Several Christmas markets in the city centre.
We did the "jobs" and then parked up. We got to the city end of the bus journey at around 1.40pm. Rather than get a coffee at Costa and use my freebie drink and collect my freebie "treat", and went to the theatre and had a coffee there.
This year the panto was "Snow White and the Seven Dwarves". As usual Ben Roddy was the Dame. Yes "a man in a dress".
The performance was great as usual.
Once it was over we set off back up to get the bus back to the park and ride. The streets are full of Christmas decorations, and this year I didn't take any photos!
The drive back in the dark was unspectacular. At least we have put some charge into the batteries. With very little sun, the solar setup isn't getting much power into them.
I think in the spring I will look into finding where the controller is and seeing if we can update it to one where I can see what's happening. I don't have a clue where the controller is at the moment! We have a single 100w solar panel on the roof and there maybe some wriggle room up on the roof to add another one, or possibly replace it with maybe 200w. It's all down to £££.
Anyway, it's Christmas Eve. Time to think about that next year.....
