Kilometerfresser 2025/26

Whilst I wait for the final tables to be published the new year's competition started on August 1st.


As far as i am aware, everyone that took part is automatically entered into the new year. Just in case, I checked the forum and signed up anyway...

I am also the only contestant from the UK!  I have mentioned it to my brother and biker friends and none have taken up the challenge.  My brother, Neill,  would have finished up in the top 50 quite easily with just one of his trips.

Some of the mileages (kilometres) claimed by the Top 10 seem fantastical. 

So I am hoping that with the miles I did on the 2nd August to MK will get me a decent start..... 

I haven't worked out exactly how many miles though. Google Maps Timeline shows 245 miles. Its notoriously inaccurate but maybe not too far out.

My next outing might be on Sunday for Meldrews as I am away on the usual 3rd Sunday breakfast run. The week after I am hoping the weather will be good and I can get another 150 miles or so on the clock with another football trip to Arsenal. 

My starting odometer readings are still the same as the end of June!!!

Roadtest - Suzuki TU250X

(Originally written and published on the old Geocities hosted SOC website in 1997)   With the UK Government thinking of ways to force commuters onto public transport on the one hand, soaking the motorist with the other hand - road tolls, commuting into City tolls, increased in Vehicle Excise Duty on top of another hike in petrol tax, the motorcycle couldn't be better placed to provide personal transport when you want it, in a more 'environmentally friendly' way. So when I was offered the latest addition to the Suzuki commuter range, the TU250X, I was actually quite looking forward to trying a bike that might fit the bill for the beleaguered commuter of the future.
