Relay Riders UK 2025 - Leg 96

Today's the day.

I was expecting to meet a female rider and her support, I was surprised when three guys arrived.

I had arrived early with them supposed to arrive at 1420. Time to get a coffee in the Lazy Shack and just about enough time to drink it.

Even more surprised that one of them was Wally Matthews who I haven't seen for what must be 25 to 30 years. Another former Kent Centre Suzuki Owners Club member.

I didn't take many photos and actually none of the bear handovers.

Luckily Wally took some and this one is his. He also took a video of us leaving.

The second one taken by the guy from the silver car.

The route was to Canterbury then to Margate via Manston.

There was one "TomTom Moment" where at a roundabout with the A299 we simply should have gone right (third exit) it went straight on - second exit.

We then did two sides of a triangle 🔺️  to get back to the next junction along!!

A quick stop to get the bear a photo op with a WW2 V1 flying bomb and then back on route.

In Margate we did a lap of the one way system as I missed the turn into the fire station!

Successful handover. Bear and bag handed over. Photos taken. Chris and me and his fantastic Triumph Rocket III 2500.

Handover at Margate Fire Station.

Once Leg 97 had left,  we all went our separate ways.

My route home was via Sandwich and the back of Dover to the M20.

I had mapped the route with the Yamaha My Ride app. Amazingly it worked.

And that's it for another year.

Would I do it again?  Of course.  It's a great cause and it's a shame that there were not many people turning up for some legs.  The ones before me had three or four riders and support. If it hadn't been for them it would have been Jean Sans Amis Devall, again!
