Awaycation Summer 2024 - España

Now that we have a few Staycations planned for the fading end of 2023, my attention is turning to the longer summer trip to Spain.


Where to go?  I have several guidebooks from Rough Guides and Lonely Planet to sift through.  With the weather liable to be on the hot side of warm, I have to consider Reggie in all this.

He is 13 and had begun to feel the weather. Unless we get an aircon fitted to Molly, then I think we need to think about staying in the north of Spain.

We will arrive early morning in Bilbao and so there is a chance to move westwards.  I need to find out how moho-friendly Bilbao and surrounding area is going to be.  If you know. Please comment!

I have a vague plan to head across the north towards Santiago de Compostela and then loop back through the Picos.

Some of these might be in the plan.

Roadtest - Suzuki TU250X

(Originally written and published on the old Geocities hosted SOC website in 1997)   With the UK Government thinking of ways to force commuters onto public transport on the one hand, soaking the motorist with the other hand - road tolls, commuting into City tolls, increased in Vehicle Excise Duty on top of another hike in petrol tax, the motorcycle couldn't be better placed to provide personal transport when you want it, in a more 'environmentally friendly' way. So when I was offered the latest addition to the Suzuki commuter range, the TU250X, I was actually quite looking forward to trying a bike that might fit the bill for the beleaguered commuter of the future.
