A point at Aldershot

Yes.

With a 3pm kickoff I decided to check on Google Maps when to set off.

It reckoned door to door was 82 miles and one hour fifty five minutes driving time.

That did seem somewhat slow so counting back from 3pm I decided to leave at noon.

Apart from about 3 miles at each end the entire journey is on motorway or dual carriageway.

The M20 and M26 were okay. No dramas. The M25 was the usual mixture of no drama and wankers.

It seems that removing the hard shoulder and making it another lane, making four lanes, it seems that no one wants to sit in the left lanes.

I drive with cruise control set to 70mph, which is probably more like a real 65mph. Sail past all the wankers who hog the middle lanes....

Anyway I arrived at the parking, about 200 yards from the EBB Stadium, after about an hour and a half after setting off.

Plenty of time to eat my sandwiches and then wander up to find a cash machine.

Once that was sorted I returned to the stadium around 2pm. Outside there's a sign saying "away supporters" right.

So we, by now quite a few Oldham fans milling about, set off. Under the railway, left up the hill. We walk up the hill. Past the ground. Way past! Next sign to go left. Over the railway and through a park. And back down to the ground. Phew. Cream crackered.

I had a seat booked. Usually the stewards say "sit anywhere". Here you are supposed to sit in booked seat.  Mine already occupied. So I sat in another one.

To be honest Oldham started off better, a few shots on target but Aldershot scored first!

For the neutral it wasn't a bad game. Fondop scored the equaliser with a volley from outside the box. Then Oldham put on loads of pressure but couldn't score.

The bulky 9 of Aldershot seemed more like a wrestler and managed to win a penalty.

After some debate on where it should be taken from. There is a spot marked out 12 yards from the goal line in the centre of the goal....

Luckily he took it himself. Badly. Norman saved it. Justice.

The game then fizzled away. Neither side seemed to have much idea, even in the 5 minutes added time....

All in all a decent point against an in-form side with some good recent wins under their belts.

The walk back, downhill, was much quicker. Once in the car I simply retraced my steps back to the A31 and A3 and the motorways home.

Not much to report. Still loads of middle lane hoggers. No police in sight.
