Taylormade Windscreen Cover for Molly

We have had the current (or rather ex!) cover from a company called Marvix for just short of two years. It has done what it is supposed to do.

In winter and cold weather it stops the front screen getting covered in condensation and keeps the heat inside the van much better than a vast expanse of laminated glass windscreen (windshield!). In summer and warmer climes it keeps the sun out and helps to cool the box.

Over the two years we have used it extensively. There were a number of problems that weren't too awful but we got around them.  Once out of the carrying bag, we couldn't get it back in. It's quite thick and stiffly made with a foil backing and material front.  The sandwich middle is a very stiff foam. That made it difficult to fold, and impossible to get into the bag it came out of!

What decided us to change it is the finish.  The stitched edges began to fray in a peculiar manner, rather than the stitching unwind it powered away.

Marvix say that they have improved the product and the stitching on later models and offered us  50% discount on a new one. It was a tempting offer as that would mean sending £60 and getting a new one.

In the end after watching many blogs and vlogs from vanlifers we decided to try a different make. Either Silver Screens or Taylormade.  Both oddly based in the UK and in Yorkshire!

These are both a less rigid design and go into the supplied travel bag with ease!  So after checking online I emailed both ask about the fitment for the cab doors and that we had Remis Blinds fitted.  Both replied quite quickly and there was pretty much the same answer.

When ordering tick the Remis Blind option.  It was a toss up.  Both are similarly priced. Both ship "next day" but only Taylormade had the one to fit Molly in stock and ready to post. So they got my order.

It arrived today care of DHL.  The box didn't look too big and the cover was folded in half inside it!  It looks massive.  At the moment it's far too windy here to put it on so it will wait until tomorrow to try it.

Another photo op for the Nikon?
