Austria & The Alps Day 2 - Evening

"Willkommen in Salzburg. Erwarten Sie, dass es viel regnet!" - ought to great visitors to this wonderful and historic city.

After the on and off rain on the way down it was no surprise that once we had arrived at the youth hostel that it would rain again.

We ignored the offer of a meal in the hostel, well, we didn't actually say "no" we just went out for a walk.

Both of us out of bike gear. we walked back to the main road and went left.  Maybe right was where all the restaurants and bars were as we chose a direction with loads of low rise businesses but no food sellers!

It was also a Sunday!

Then is started to lash down with rain! We rushed back to the hostel. As luck would have it we were both wearing blue boat shoes.  Why?

When you have limited carrying capacity, boat shoes can be worn for many occasions and they pack almost flat in the pannier bags!

Unfortunately, considering that the are for "boat"use, the blue dye isn't waterproof.  We both ended up with stained socks and feet!  Mine weren't too bad but Claire's feet looked like she has been in a bowl of blue paint!

Once back in our room, we dried off as best we could and went down to the reception and ordered a meal!  The rain lashed the windows.

Bed time.
