Vera - Ready to rock and roll

Vera given a wash and brush up prior to getting rained on from home to Tours on the first day of the trip.

Yes folks. Lashing rain being forecast from Tuesday night through Wednesday. It looks as though we will be in waterproofs all day.

Should I take the waterproof Frank Thomas jacket and waterproof trousers? Or stick with the plan to wear the Rev'It summer jacket and my Triumph overjacket?

Decisions. Decisions!

As for Vera. To try and keep her clean I have washed and polished all the painted surfaces and screen. Hopefully the wax polish will bead the rain away.

Oil checked ✔️
Chain adjustment ✔️
Panniers fitted ✔️
Chain oil packed ✔️
Chain brush packed ✔️

I have started to pack my top box bag as well. A few changes of pants and socks. Have also packed a pair of plimsolls and a pair of jog pants. Do I need jeans?

Also some t-shirts to last a week, a polo shirt for the evenings (!) and maybe my Hawaiian shirt? Depends on the weather I guess!

One of the panniers contains spare waterproof gloves. Is one pair enough? Plus waterproofs.  The other empty.

Backed her into the cluttered garage. I can ride out and not perform the twenty point turn to get through the cars on the drive!

 Blimey it seems so heavy!

Two days from now we should be way past Rouen. Definitely need fingers crossing.

Starting odometer reading 12779.
