It's coming up to six months since we first viewed the Elddis 115 at JS Leisure in Rye. We had seen quite a few at other dealers and plumped for this one for a variety of reasons.
It was actually over the budget we had loosely set but was the newest of all the ones we had liked. So I guess paying al ittle more would meet the age of the unit.
Since we had it we have tried to get out and about as much as possible. A long week (11 days) in Devon where we discovered that local authorities like to have your money but aren't particularly friendly to MoHo owners. Limited parking and where there is they make sure it is a poorly maintained as possible.
We have also had other trip s around UK in Kent and East Sussex in the first few weeks of ownership. We have recently been on midweek trips to Norfolk and to Littlehampton in West Sussex.
And of course, the Awaycation to France in June and July.
And that's not the end of it for 2022. Once I get back from my week away with my brother to the MotoGP in Spain, I will be straight onto the next MoHo trip to the West Country! That's all planned and the co-ords entered into the Ohrex Truck Satnav!
After that we have to wait a month before we set off for France and Spain. I am still working on this!
So after six months we have learned a lot about motorhoming. We have made a few mistakes. I have managed to break the left (kerbside) mirror twice! As I have racked up the miles I have started to relax a little with the width of the vehicle. I have some experience of vans. I used to supplement my student loans in the 90's driving Mercedes 207 and 307 vans for a local transport company.
We have learned not to take too much with us. A bit like travelling on the bike, luggage space at a premium!
What else. The main thing is that when I am planning a trip away and looking at where we are going, I usually use a combination of road maps, paper and online, and the satnav planning software, I need to plan for less distances every day! On the bike or in the car, 300 miles isn't that much of a problem. In the van with much lower average speeds this has to actually come down! I learned that when we were never going to be able to sightsee and cover long distances across the Auvergne and Dordogne!
It's not all about thrashing along motorways/autoroutes!
