Microsoft Surface Go 2

With two ancient laptops and a work one that has many many restrictions on what I can do and sites I can visit the time was to buy something new.

Claire has had a Microsoft Surface 2 Go for over a year and has been using it almost daily. It was so successful I have bought one too.

Of course, the tablet isn't the only thing that needs buying. There's the keyboard I am using now. Then a mouse. Then a bag to carry it in. All done.

To be different I have chosen the tomato red keyboard and cover. It looks very nice.  I hope it is east to clean!

It was all very easy to set up and I opted to go to Windows 10 rather than Windows S. I am used to "proper" Windows!

As well as using it to replace the old laptops, it's also to take with me when travelling. It has only a 10" screen and should easily fit in the top box of either bike. The bag I bought is a "buy again" option in "my orders" or Amazon just a change of colour! No confusion between my kit and Claire's.

This is the first thing I have written to test the keyboard.  Very impressed that it found it and worked from the second it was connected. It detected and added the mouse in seconds. It fits with a magnet and it was "sucked" from my fingers to connect! The mouse takes a bit of getting used to is it it very flat!

Maybe locating the printer on our home WIFI network might be the next test.

Update 15:43

Of course it has been in the box for quite a while.  Being Windows there are about 30 upgrades it wants to do. So I let it start. That was about 1135.  It's downloaded loads of them and seems to have stuck at "pending install" for about an hour.

Other than that it's the usual boring setting up the new desktop, installing the things you really need and want to  use.

I can't stand Bing.  The browser not the golfing crooner. I don't much like Edge either. So I have installed Chrome. I know, another device for Google to suck my data from.....

Update 17:53

All the upgrades/updates have been downloaded and installation has begun.  After a reboot it's off again  and 22% upgrading complete. It seems that so far that's about 1% every 90 to 120 seconds.

Update 19:23

Amazingly after loads of restarts it has finally finished.  I have an up to date Surface 2.
